Real bad news - a good mod who will be sorely missed by all.
Not wishing to re-stick the bandaid but more can be accomplished from the inside working for change than from the outside unable to be involved.
I am sure that many will echo the words - "Re-think" and "Stay".

Oh man! NO!

That man was together with a few others, the reason I kept returning to this place! I can honestly say it is like losing a friend. I keep thinking of the PM's we'd send each other in the beginning of my time here. He helped me with anything and everything, and we talked some trash along the way :D
Let's face it, the place just won't be the same without him.

But, as hard as it is, we need to respect his choice, and wish him lots of luck with his projects.

Just promise to stop by once in a while and say hi to us.

Your little old pal - iceman

NamePopper has been a pretty nice guy. I'm generally ambivalent about goings on like these. I understood his post fairly well (well written!), and I hope his projects work out for the best! There'll be a lot of slack to pick up on.

A very sad day at the forum

This place is what it is because of the mods, and Nick has put a lot of selfless work in here. It's not often I visit DNF and his name isn't in the online list.

We're all going to miss him as a mod, but I hope he'll stay around for a long time to come :)

We appreciate all the time, wisdom and endless patience you've given us over the last eight months, Nick.

*Edited for private reasons* :)

Hey Nick!

Hope your decision means you get to make tons more money rather than pointlessly waste your time having to babysit a bunch of neurotic psychos and satans like us. :D

Thanks for being a friend to all of us here. Don't be a stranger. Stop by often!

NamePopper, you have been a wonderful moderator!

Thank you for your unselfish and amazing contribution to the community aspect of this forum.

I could say a whole bunch of other things, but then I would not have one half the class and grace that you have shown, so I'll refrain.

Stay in touch, friend, and best wishes in all your ventures.

Nick is quite simply the best mod in the business. Don't worry - you haven't heard the last from him. In fact, he will be the subject of a major profile in Domain Name Journal that should be published before the weekend is out. It has been in the works for the past month, so it is not related to this development. It is a very inspirational story and one that should be required reading for every newcomer to this business (or any business for that matter). It is all about finding your niche in a competitive industry, mastering it and continually moving forward, regardless of the roadblocks life may put in your way.

I look forward to reading that.

And while Nick may be moving on I sincerely hope he remains active in the domain community at large as it would be sad to lose such a proffessional, well mannered person of his caliber.

I don't! The SOB beats me to far too many names! :D

Unfortunately he does plan to stick around so I will just have to grin and bear it. :)

Nick..sorry to see you step down from your gig as Mod. You've been an invaluble asset to DNF. I hope that Adam and the new mods can maintain the standards that you set.

Hopefully, while you are stepping down as a mod...it doesn't mean that we are losing you as a member of this community. That would truly be the greatest loss,
it was cool to have your levelheadedness ( is that a word? ) as a mod...but I think we all think of you as a friend and associate.

So don't be a stranger...

Talk to you soon...( hopefully )

Wow, I could finally speak out now! I'm flattered to be among the first to learn of the news when Nick shot me a PM early Thursday morning (5AM! we're both on the forum then) but had to keep my lips tight pending an official announcement.

Nick has been very helpful all along, both before and after I become a mod, and I have definitely learnt a lot from him. I really appreciate his treating me as a friend and actually came to my rescue when I needed him most.

And as I wrote in my reply PM: GOOD LUCK and let's keep in touch.
