Hi guys,

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but, for the last 2 months I've visited NameWinner at different times of the day, went to their
"Starting Line", and got the following message:

"There are currently 0 domain names in our list."

Same message for over 2 months, and I've tried more times than I care to remember.

Is this for real?

I mean, am I doing something wrong or is it that they haven't
had any names on their list for over 2 months?!!!!

Does anyone know?

Thanks in advance.

Yes it`s real!
Someone sayd that they are now only taking the "BIG" bids. I mean if the bid is $25 then You would not probablly get it with namewinner, when someone has snap on snapnames.

Hi GeorgeK,

I'm all ears. Where the heck do you even find names to bid on if not at the Starting Line?

Yes I belive You I also got some good names in past with them auto-exchange.com, cyberterror.com all had snapback on and I did get them for $25.
But in this moment I had maybe 10 names that had a snapback , but namewinner didn`t get nothing for me!

Hi,
Namewinner does not reveal the domains on which people are bidding. the reason, which is fair, is that it is really time-consuming to dig out above-average expired names and secondly that claim that when they reveal the list that creates extra competation which is true since you can get the all list if you have a cc and go try your method of grabbing somewhere else. Other than that yes namewinner has some odd things such as once I found a 2 letter .net expired added it to the watch list myself with $25 and instantly outbid until the price went up $300. Other than that namewinner grabs fly-looking names even there is no bids on their site on them. I can not give examples since I bid $25 for one of them its whois shows this long blah blah about dotster. Here is my advice for namewinner, use grabbing services which I don't do or instead buy a software like avdpro or watch domains etc. create your possible lists and go through them then go bid on them on dotster. Finally do not bid for a mediocre .net more than $50 and for mediocre .com more than $120. For other names you can arrange your own limits after you gain some experience. The last thing is do not attend peeing contest games for some names since it can really blow in your hand.

Would you guys suggest bidding on yourself to improve the chance of catching a name? I would suspect that NameWinner would make a greater effort to catch a domain that has a $100 bid than it would one that has a $25 bid. So, if you are interested in getting a domain, would it make sense to place a $100 initial bid even if there is no one on NameWinner that is competing with you for that name?

that would be an option.
But then You have to have 2 accounts and You most bid against yourself. But I don`t think, that the bid of $100 is a big bid, example they got uhk.com the bid was over $900 but they didn`t get elmirage.com bid $111 and so on!

I don't think they would differentiate much between a $25 bid and a $100 bid in terms of allocating resources, and so IMO you'd be wasting $$. I've gotten some good $25 names with NW, but admittedly that was earlier this year and things have changed.

Yes
An I think that every comapny would do so. Why waist your bandwich to $25 names, You just register some names that have $2K bids and You can still make good money.

What do you think is the minimum bid that NameWinner will make a distinction on? Do you think, if not for $100, that NameWinner will devote more bandwidth to a name with a $200 bid? $250? $300? $500?

There's only an hour from the close of NW bids to drop time which doesn't give a lot of time for analysis, but I would guess they would try harder for names over $500, and pull out all stops when bidding reaches those crazy $2k+ amounts.

Yes I think so! But I don`t know it for sure!
But how can that be, when a name has bid over 1K, then many drop catchers would like to get this name, but namewinner get`s it and $25 bids they don`t get???? Maybe they go for the good names on different computers. Or they just say to one man, "today You have to get this name" and this one man is trying to get just this name?????
It`s possible? Or not?

At the end of July NameWinner got a domain for me which I had a $25 bid on and I also had the snap on it (so it beat SnapNames on a $25 bid).

At the end of August I was able to manually register a domain before NameWinner got it (my bid was also $25 at that time and I don't think anyone had a snap on it).

This doesn't mean anything conclusive, of course -- just my experiences to add to the pot.
