Hey guys I need some help with this if you have the time:

I own cgene.com, and I got a couple of offers around low xxx,
but I have a feeling it's worth more than that.

Any opinions?

Nope.....you should sell.

Doesn't seem to have much search traffic.
Does it have a meaning? I only searched a little for it, so please enlighten me. Also, any traffic?

Definitely has to do with genetics. The "c-gene" is the gene that controls color in several mammals. It also appears that c-gene.com is expiring soon.

I would counter-offer $1250. Good luck.

type in c gene in google. returns 19,100,000 results many of which are medical in nature as radistar indicated. i would counter at low to mid $$$$.

With this domain, I'd take the offer.

It seems to me that something as specific as one type of gene wouldn't have too many people looking to fight over it. I would be cautious of scaring them away with too high of a counter, especially with c-gene.com expiring soon, as RADiSTAR mentioned. Good luck.

Thanks everyone!

He counter-offered at $500, and I think I'll take it. It's a startup company in another country, in a field that doesn't pay much, so $500 is fine.

Awesome! That's great news. Makes me feel like it's not a hopeless cause. :-)

Yes pretty decent news. I asked him to send updates periodically too, as I'm interested
to see what happens with the company.

Good sale. I am happy for you. Goodluck.

Which country? You'd be surprised to know US is not the richest country in the world! You sold too fast, too low.

Norway, plus I'm short on cash and rent is big. Should I be an aggressive jerk
and tell them I'm sorry but I just received an offer for closer to $1250?

I read on DNjournal that you shouldn't be greedy when starting out. I think that sounds like some good advice.

Right. Maybe Duke wrote that article during happy hour? :-D

I sold my first domain for $2,250. I guess I was being greedy.

Man, I don't know what to do anymore. The deal isn't final yet, and I haven't heard
back since I told him I accepted the 500 dollar offer.

I wish I had more experience.

if you have not already given him a deadline for payment, follow up with him in a few days and advise, in a professional manner, that the offer is valid thru (x) date and time, after which you will be placing the domain back on the market for sale. of course if you have not already discussed the method of payment, that should also be clarified in the same contact.
