This is probably the most actively defended trademark on the planet!

I second that, I had C&D notices from my uk domains from some Germany interest that owns the olympic/olympia etc brand. I'd dump this at the first opportunity.

The official line on the olympics themed domain names is it's fine to own them, and use them, as long as the contents on the site are nothing to do with the sporting olympics. Where I live we have a coach company called Olympic travel, it has nothing to do with the sporting olympics and therefore is not in breach of the TM. All I am saying is, it is morally wrong to resell this domain on the suggestion that it can be developed as a website for the olympic games. How do i know this? well amongst other sources, try and load an ascii olympic domain name on sedo - it will stop you because of a germany trademark.

Well, i think its worth the risk!
I got the same domain but in greek... where the olympics belong! but how knows, maybe you see me in court in a few years :'(

Worth the risk? Do you mean the risk of losing $8?

I pm'd him about this as well. This is one of the most most heavily protected trademarks. They have prevailed time and again.

Yes... at least if they want to demand me, they will have to go to the WIPO, and some $5k fees for lawyers and other stuff....
when that time arrive, we will have to decide what to do

Are you American, i read somewhere there is some US law that allows a firm to sue an cybersquatter and then obtain damages. So it's not just WIPO for an American.

With so many good generics, there's no reason to go for names like this.

I don't care if you're from Mars. You shouldn't post that kind of crap in this forum.

Olympic's money doesn't belong to anyone, they will just do whatever that is needed to get back the domain, and at the end, you'll gain nothing.

I would appreciate it if you wouldn't post these types of comments in my Thread. I never asked for your opinion/appraisal. Thanks.

As you can see from this example:

http://www.dnforum.com/f298/net-television-net-russian-idn-thread-138702.html

even DNForum admins post opionions/appraisals/translation comments in the IDN forum. So, that means it is OK and accepted practice.

As for オリンピック my dictionary says: Olympic. However, your marketing it as Olympics and not Olympic shows that the intention is infringement on the Olympic Games, and not say, unrelated Olympic Pizza Store use.
