Ok. I could be wrong but netsol appears to be pulling some blatant menuevers lately. This one here got me.

From exody today.
cpdf.com == 2004-09-19 == whois.networksolutions.com == Cr:1997-08-14 == Exp:2005-08-13 == NS1.PENDINGRENEWALDELETION.COM:NS2.PENDINGRENEWALDELETION.COM

Netsol only recently started flopping expiring names server info to the "pending " servers, so this is quite fresh.

Alexa shows cpdf.com having some nice link pop, 364 to be exact, and active pages into 2004 (wayback)

NAME NEVER DROPPED - DELETED

Is netsol giving Ult some kind of option to buy names before they drop??????
The only other scenerio I can see is the owner renewing and selling to ULT but that seems unlikely considering the time frame here.

Opinions?

These names ARE NOT DROPPING. So the only way ult and Alex can acquire these names is buying directly from the owner . RIGHT? IM ASKING? Netsol can not sell these names before they drop unless I have been sleeping uder a rock. I hope ult and alex bought these from the previous owner, but it sure seems suspicious that these names went into netsols "expired-pending" status and just jumped back to life in a matter of days. Big money players getting preferential treatment??????? Or am I over reacting. All im really looking for is an answer.

It appears in either case the name didn't go through the usual 65 day drop cycle. Both would have dropped in late october. The reg hold period is supposed to be 30 days, and 30 days redemption. Didn't happen here. Finding more instances of this too as we speak.

Yep. It appears that Netsol is assuming ownership of the domain and using snapnames to auction off to the high bidder. I didn't know ICANN allowed this. I wonder if this may also circumvent Googles purging of the links associated with dropping domains.

Excellent data digging NexSite.
As for ICANN allowing it....I don't believe they meant to, but their inaction at implementing policies are to blame for whats happening. Until the Expired Domain Deletion Policy takes hold on Dec 21.....what you've pointed out will be the norm. But it still doesn't make it right IMO.

36 days from expiration date the auction begins. Many names slipped into auction in the first few days before anyone had a chance to research the entire list and place backorders.

Gee. Did netsol start this practice without notifying domain owners that there will be no redemption grace period? I have a couple names there, no notice. So now you lose your name in 36 days. No real on-hold period or no real redmption period. That outfit is the greediest buch of Pucks I have ever seen. Now they OWN the name you registered before it deletes, and auction it off to the highest bidder. What in the hell is ICANN smoking?

You've just tapped into one of the many flaws from a registrants standpoint as to why this is such an abomidable scenario.
As for what ICANN is smoking.....I wish they would pass some around because their lack of forsight is causing me to get the shakes.....and I'd rather prefer the munchies.
