I may put it up soon and would like some input on where my bottom line should be. This is one of those domains I picked up years ago and was so proud of the grab that it became a personal domain and can't grasp a real value.

I like it. $5k+

That's a major domain, good luck

Awesome domain, I couldn't give you a figure without low balling you to death in hopes of you selling it to me dirt cheap, but definitely a name I would go "all in" developing. Many will say its a very hard market to compete in, but with the right amount of $$$ and dedicated / loyal writers, that thing can be huge.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Reseller...
No to little traffic of 10-25+ a day $$$$
Decent traffic like around 50+ a day and talking high 4 figs to low 5 figs
Great traffic of XXX+ a day and huge 5 figs to +++

On its own it isnt really that great of a combo, the sales pitch will rely heavily on natural traffic.

So which is it?

after rick did the ireport thing, now you see fox using ureport, it seems the traditional "news" names have fallen off

still, it's brandable if you did a 'politico' type site and blew-up like them

pitch it to some networks, maybe one will bite

Traffic is sparse for the most part, then suddenly it'll get a thousand hits. I've always thought it to be a domain for the 30+ crowd especially because of the term being popular in the past. You don't hear "News Break" much these days. But growing up I heard it daily on TV. I do like it personally so I need your appraisals to figure out what I want to do with the domain.

I appreciate the feedback so thanks to all. I think I'll sit on it, maybe I'll make it a hobby when I retire.

When I saw this one - I was hoping you had a nice, low xxxx BIN that I could snap up....no such luck for me.

I think it is a good idea to wait on this one...It is really nice - can be special - no need to be in a hurry to sell. I would be looking for 30k+...may want to just develop a news aggregator and have some fun with it. Great name - best of luck.

I like it, but breaking news is most common.
Good luck.

while flipping the channels yesterday, i saw a program on cable called "newsline"

perhaps you could get a public access channel for "newsbreak"

Great domain, difficult to say a price on this one but I suspect
it could go quite a bit over $5K, if a big player wanted to buy
it.

Good luck!

"Breaking news" and "News break" are two different meanings. Hard to compare them.

My prediction, this thread will go dead for a couple years or so, then will be reopened after it sells for xx,xxx

At that price range, only a dozen or so major news outlets would have the money and one of them would have to be interested. It could happen, but I would not bet on it.

iReport only happened since they began using "iReport" as a trademarked service BEFORE they bought the name, the service became popular (most ideas fail) and they had to buy iReport.

If these resellers are really willing to pay $5K, I would sell it to them today rather than waiting for years and hoping your boat comes in.

It could be sold to a blogger for low to mid XXXX - there are many more bloggers than large news organizations. There is NOT much money in blogging or news these days.

While writing this I am watching a PBS show called "News Hour."
Public access has even less money to spend on domain names than PBS does.

So you know, I never expect a boat to come in. I kept my day job. Most big domain sales came from big investment. Not some boat coming in.

Throw a few more years on registration and hold. Too easy. I wouldn't settle for less then xx,xxx. Less quality have been sold at that range.

Great Name! Any News Agency in the world would love NewsBreak.com for their brand. IReport.com sold for over $700,000 Any short name that has Report or News in the domain would command much more then $5,000. For Example: I can only come up with some samples of Report . coms and they are as we know IReport, UReport, and some others domains, MyReport, OurReport, OwnReport, EReport, with other possibilities that could be used, for the News industry.

NewsBreak.com is over $50,000 for minimum.

Maybe in most cases, but I thought you grabbed this one for free or cheap, and the five-figure boat is only going to come in if some rich news organization decides to have a show called, "News Break," which is just a matter of luck to you in this case.

Many people above are incorrectly estimating the value of a domain name on the one whose boat that came in (iReport) and not the hundred or thousand other similar names that never sold. Where is that negative "Who Dat Dog" when you need him.
