NNNN.com Values

Looks like the value of average NNNN.com names has exploded. People are finally realizing that NNNN.com have only 10,000 variations and LLL.com have over 17,000. NNNN.com names are almost twice as rare. I predict the average NNNN.com name will sell for $500+ by the end of the year. The Chinese market loves these names, and I see the prices continuing to go through the roof.

I agree. Globally, there is an enormous amount of interest in these names. Through email, I receive an increasing amount of private offers to purchase my NNNN.com domains. And since I moved some of them to DOPA.com's parking service, I now am receiving a healthy number of inquiries via the Chinese landing page.

This niche has become quite liquid, and it is nice to see consistent trades both on the forums and through the aftermarket venues. However, it seems regardless of what is happening in the marketplace many domainers still choose to discount the data and contend that the value of these numerics is either going to be short-lived or it has peaked. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. If it hadn't been for so many doubters from the start, I would never have been able to acquire the type of numeric portfolio that I own. The same can be said about LLL's in all TLDs, but particularly in .info and .us the last couple of years.

I know a few other domainers who own a substantial percentage of the 10,0000 possible NNNN.com domains, and we all seem to be on the same page: we're not selling anytime soon. Supply continues to tighten as these names have shifted to strong hands in the last two years, while the number of dropping/deleting NNNN.com's shrinks. I remember in 2004 there was a two-week period (end of Nov/start of Dec) where about 100 of these dropped at the same time. The majority were picked up for between $10 and $20 each at Club Drop. I wouldn't call it a lot of traffic. But I'm sure if you hold on to your domain, it'll increase in value

Agreed. Numerical domains are their own niche. But unfortunately, most people who are not familiar with number domains feel the need to immediately start comparing them to alpha domains.

To state in a numerical domain thread that one prefers letter domains, is akin to interrupting a .US ccTLD discussion to tell everyone they prefer IDNs.
