I noticed there are not too many sold transactions recently but a lot of chit-chat and complaints? Despite there are many good and cheap names listed.

Care to share?

Thanks,

At least in part, yes.

Cost of living rising dramatically: Fuel, food, medical, etc up 10-20%, wages stagnant, cash flow tight.

Also FEAR of Recession. Many people holding their cash rather than investing, fearing worse to come, whether it's true or not.

I'm not much of a seller but I did sell mycarsearch.com last week for $300. Its hit or miss for me though so I understand why some are frustrated.

That's funny because I always buy names that have a good ROI prospect :)

I think there are too many people blogging about about how the domain market is down and other fears such as the snowe bill and unfortunately these people have an influence on domainers. I personally have not seen a decrease in private sales.

I noticed that there are periods of very little Buying this is especially true for most of this year. Also, even good names with low prices are not being bought.

This is probably the best time for buying, many good deals to be found.

Agreed. My suggestion is to start selling to end users during these periods, it's what I normally do.

I am referring to the activities on forums. I am always buying/selling in private.

I have checked many places (forums) and it looks like it it everywhere.

Agreed that now is a good time to buy.

Would the .asia has something to contribute to this slow down? I bought a ton of names days before the .asia land rush as people wanted to buy the new extension.

Like I said earlier, I think it has a lot to do with "larger domainers" influencing other people in the industry. All i have heard lately is negative things about the market and I think it's starting to take it's toll. People have to remember that every market has ups and downs.

I think too that some of the blogs and all the negative domain news has scared buyers.

What is the best way to find end users?

agree

everybody and their momma is blogging about their knowledge of domains, and to me, it's at overload stage.
it's especially hard for a newbie, as they are most likely to be persuaded by a blog, guide or news site.

I am afraid this one has nothing to do with recession as this is an investment and not a consumable product.

But people use consumable products that's enough obstacle not to spend money. I hope I'm wrong.

Would the .asia has something to contribute to this slow down? I bought a ton of names days before the .asia land rush as people wanted to buy the new extension.

Absolutely not. I personally don't spend money in .asia

I only want travel.asia but ofcourse this is long gone.

Larger domainers :asleep:
I always think they have their own agenda.

Endusers are contacting me more this year than any other years.
But, there are more non-paying buyers for me
Gotta be something to do with recession?

The first few months of the year are always real slow but I will agree sales are even way off of that. I've said it before and I'll say it again. This industry can't sustain itself the way it is currently being done. All money is exiting the business via the registrars primarily at the drop auctions. And then you compound that with the squeezing of PPC revenues which is what most did their buying with and you have a gridlock.

The only way to reverse the effect is for us to do more buying via end-users and reseller to reseller rather than the auctions so the money is re-invested within (everybody eats) or those that can sustain status quo remain and everyone else starves. I also believe the spotlight put on the industry has been more of a negative than anything. If you have these articles all over the place talking about how Joe Schmoe is making millions of dollars and driving a Rolls Royce from domain names the less people want to contribute to Joe Schmoe's extravagant lifestyle when they are living pay check to paycheck.
