Number of members with websites

before i joined i just assumed that the majority of people here would be a webmaster but this doesnt seem to be the case - there are loads that just buy and sell domains

If you dont have a website - have you ever thought about developing noe of your own domain names into a website

Id love to hear your thoughts on the matter

You are correct..


Most here are not webmasters but rather speculators.. hence the name DN Forum

Just buying and selling domains is a bit on the fringe side..hardly any aftermarket at all because the names have depreciated so much.

See a domain name wont bring you revenues (other than reasons of vanity .."I WANT that domain) because 99% of domains are missing the key ingrediant TRAFFIC. (traffic = revenues)

Which means you need to market for traffic(which of course means you need to DEVELOP your domains)..either search engines, email ads etc..

Be very wary of people who claim their names have "type-ins" (traffic that comes frompeople actually typing the domain name in their url address bar) they are very rare (type-ins that amount to being worthwhile anyways)

Some claim only .com worth anything..(usually because they have a portfolio filled with .com LOL)

If you keep in mind that type-in traffic domains are rare ...you will have to market/promote your domain anyways then ANY extension is fine.. . ( .info, .biz .net .org etc as long as the extension fits your domain)

There is a developing (well it's been gathering speed the past 6 months or so)
of registering domin names that have previously had a web site with links from other web sites..they have a certain amount of value (a lot of variable though..more detail on that latter)

A domain that just drops that had 400 links pointing to it may very well have more value because it means that it should have traffic coming from the links (= revenue).

Which leads me back to my original point ...most domains .com included are worth no more than vanity price because domains dont come with traffic included ..(other than the very top tier domains and of course simply cybersquatting on something like IBM.com )

Ohh I like that phrase..( like the no batteries included on al your "toy's)someone TM and build a domain aftermarket site..

That said.. buying selling trading domains is a great hobby that can be addicting and even a bit profitable even for the average Joe . But if you prefer to make consistant money ..then develop your domains .

I do a little of both..

I have sold over 40 domains..

I have bought over 500 hundred domains ....

I have around 30 web sites running...

Also names with previous links are used by developers because Google ranks web sites (one main variable) on how many inbound links you have and the quality of those links..

If your site has 400 incoming links ..and your competitor has ten..you will rank higher in Google because googles algo has determined that your site must be an "authority" of sorts

actually -google are trying to stamp out the selling of page ranks with their new features

not sure how effective this will be in the short term as a lot of people determine a sites value by the page rank of the site

Google can totally get rid of pr using linking in their anAlysis anyways as far as I am concerned ..it's nothing more than webmasters deciding whats best instead of the "surfer"

Their is a growing tide of discontent with Google because it seems you have a group of webmaster starting to get control by working as a group (using linking and DMOZ control(acting as editors whenif fact all they do is list their sites and their "accomplises" sites ..at least to the top of a cat))... 2 of the most important variables for good ranking in Google..

not just opinion I use to be an editor at dmoz..

dont get me wrong their are a lot of good editors at dmoz..my main point is ..it is to easy to abuse (therfore it shouldnt be avariable in Googles algo)and dont kid yourself their are millions of dollars at stake by having the best ranking..

yeah and they now have even more power since yahoo uses dmoz

a lot of people are not liking the fact that google are becoming more and more important

One of the key reasons why Google seems more 'relevant' is because of placing DMOZ listings right up front. After the 3rd page listings on average, everything get's wonky.

...... there are some really good members websites here. I now have a favorites folder called dnmembers!! I bookmark the sites that are of interest to me and its great to be in the company of people you can relate to on the web because Im stuck out in the sticks!!. if you know any other affiliate programs relating to stocks and shares only, I will be interested...

I just added LotteryResults.Us yesterday..

I placed a Lottery number generator java script on...

Lets see how random has any magic..

I used it today for the Daily 3 and my Powerball pick here in Minnesota..


For tonights drawings I got : Daily 3 : 3-2-6 ( I boxed them )

Powerball : 2-3-17-19-27 and for the powerball #7

Give it try..

i'm think about doing an adult site...maybe one day.

20 sites in different levels of development. not over 20 making money yet .
