If a one-word .com domain is generating 1,000 monthly searches at Overture (the word itself, not the word + .com), how many daily type-in visitors is that likely to convert to?

Also, same question for .net and .org?

Most likely none, or very few (1-3/day)

If the domain itself shows in Overture suggestion tool, it's a better indication of a type-in domain.

ok - related question. If I own a .org domain which is producing 50 type-ins a day, how many more type-ins could I expect from the .com version? (presuming the name itself was suited equally to being a .com or .org domain)

I've rarely seen or heard of a .org that gets 50 type-ins a day. If that's true, the .com probably gets 5000/day. :D

Well I own one so that's at least one in the world :)

There must be somebody on these forums that owns both the .com and .org version of a good domain name and can comment on the type-in traffic ratio?

You can use overture's suggestion tool as a guide for percentage wise. Search the domain name itsself. Here's two examples I tried.

tupac.com 9704
tupac.net 183
tupac.org 75

sex.com 212732
sex.net 2737
sex.org 2203

Are you asking these questions so that you can do another expose, pretending you knew it all (but actually just bludged the info off other people), and **** up yet another market?

You do realise that if you expose the overture bid tool the way you did the drop times, the bid tool will be taken away?

Think about it.

Why is it that when I ask a perfectly reasonable question I get a completely irrational answer full of bile?

The idea that my asking a question about the bid tool (which incidentally hundreds of thousands of people use on a daily basis) is going to cause it to be taken away shows that you have a very loose grip on reality.

Well, you managed to close down the CNO registry system once or twice along with mulitple registrar's systems, so anything's possible.

If you've got a .org that gets 50+ type-ins a day, then you're getting typos for an established .org site. Because of this the .com will probably get 0 type-ins. You also need to consider a number of other factors when trying to project type-ins, overture is just one minor consideration.

True! Overture is a very good resource ... but as I've said, don't get overly carried away with the "OFVM" (Overture Fetish Valuation Model).
Good Luck.
