typing in ? Oh that explains it ..your one of "those" !

Lawpal NO ONE types in Lawpal.com either..get it ..very few domains have true type-in value...your certainly dosent ..and yet you made something out of nothing...at least the Ozark Mountains actually exist.

I dont care if you dont like it..but theres no need to post .50cents type junk. OK

The name has definite value ..I know the area very well as do MILLIONs of others ..and .US is the natural fit for the domain.

A good name for development but minimal resale value at this time.

The Prez is from London Bid, so the Ozarks worldn't mean anything to him. You already know this one has excellent potential and very strong Overture numbers. It is a major vacation destination for Americans as you noted. All .us is a tough sell right now, but when it catches on in a few years you will be very happy you registered this in 2002 for $8 (barely enough for a lunch at Burger King!)

are not from the US, most are quite hostile to the new tlds in their comments, valuations and predictions. In a way its quite understandable since most have had experience only with the established tlds and probably did not participate in the roll-out of new tlds. It was quite expensive, time consuming and frustrating by the way. Its hard not to be optimistic when one has truly high quality names in the new tlds since in all probability its just a matter of time...patience & cheers.

Disclaimer: I own Ozark.info!!!!!

Thanks NameGuy..I posted on your domain thread before I read this ..

we are thinking alike..

I agree these names are true gems..and the extension fits better than .com..I guess thats the problem..people hate to admit that.. it'll cost them in the end if they dont diversify their portfolios.. class 101

I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes the .us tld. They will be very good in the upcoming years. Btw, people DO type in .us domains. I know that for a fact. I think any nameplace in the United States has excellent potential w/the .us extension. It's not just regular guys and gals utilizing it...it's also famous people. Anyone ever heard of G. Gordon Liddy and been to his new site?

The limiting factor that the .us has is that .com is the true us extension. That’s why the rest of the world have adopted their own country codes i.e. .ca .co.uk . . . etc. . . . etc. When I’m searching for something in Canada I’ll lean towards a domain name with a .ca when I’m looking for something from England I’ll look for the .co.uk. When I look for something in the US I look for a .com. I could go on and on with examples.

Until the general public openly accept the .us the names will hold little real value. The major problem with any new extension including .us is that the people that would have registered a name and developed the name and in turn brought attention to the new extension can't . . . and that’s because of speculators that snatch up 100,000's of the "quality" names leaving crap behind. A crap .com is still 10x better than a crap .us.

The .us will have a very very bumpy future and even if there are a few popular sites that use the .us extension it won’t make any difference. My advice is to avoid ANY new extension unless you actually plan to develop a site around it. Avoid new extensions as an investment because in general you will loose more money than you will ever make unless you are in it for a very long time (5 – 15 years), and even then there is no guarantee that the names will appreciate in value. Hell there may not even be domain names in 5 – 15 years . . . who knows :)

If you’re looking to actually develop a site around the name or want a trophy name it’s a good one, if you’re looking for resale wait it out.

New extensions 101 ;)

My valuation was based on the current market, and i did state it wouldn't be worth much for some time to come...i.e, might be worth something in the future, but right now not worth much.

as stated, the .com is the US extention.........how many people not in the domain game know that .us even exists?

and can i make a suggestion? If you don't like peoples comments, put your case forward as to why you think they are wrong. This can help change peoples views as we sometimes make valuations when we don't fully understand the market. One thing you shouldn't do is get all pissed.

I don't think you were addressing this post to me Prez because I'm not pissed about anything. Always happy to read your comments and those of others. I just observed that with you being in the UK the Ozark area of the US might be completely unfamiliar to you. People in the US familiar with the area recognize the name's potential. I think we all agree that .US is a very green apple that will take some time to ripen.

Wasn't refering to you at all Dukey. True, i never heard of that part of the US, but when he said what it was that was all i needed to know. My comment was aimed at bidawinner who seems to get all upset that people don't think much of his domain.
