I have received an offer on this domain but would like your advice.
The domain name is
n o t e m o i . c o m and is the equivalent of r a t e m e . c o m in french (the name has no spaces or hyphens, i write it with spaces so the search engins can't find this topic) :-D

Hi Romain,

Sorry for the bad news but the right spelling in French for "Rate me" is "noteSmoi" (imperative).

Even the correct version of the name is worthless (and free from now) imo.

My advice : take the money and run...

If you've got an offer from somebody who knows what he wants to do with it, take your chance immediately, because imo "n o t e m o i.com" is worth no more than $$: it's true than "note moi" is the litteral translation of "rate me", but if "rate me" is quite current in English, at the opposite "note moi" doesn't sound very fine to french ears (as mines :-()

P.S. Try to google search "rate me" vs. "note moi": 1,740,000 for the English version, and almost no ghits for "note moi" ( http://www.google.fr/search?hl=fr&rls=GGLG,GGLG:2005-37,GGLG:fr&q="note+moi"&btnG=Rechercher&meta= ). The few ones are part of sentences.

Surprised since I googled this before my 1st post :
" Si l'impératif d'un verbe en -er ou d'une exception signalée est immédiatement suivi des pronoms personnels neutres (moi, toi, lui, en, y...). De plus, pour une raison d'euphonie, il faut ajouter un s."

Wich suggests it is the exception of the exception :-D
So I do not know which form is correct or not, but I am sure that I would sell very fast if offered $$ or $$$.

"n o t e m o i.com" 0

So nobody in france in searching for this term.

That said, if 'n o t e m o i' is the equivalent of 'rate me',
then there is some value in this name, and it could
be branded into a huge rating site for french people.
So high $xxx up to $5,000 for a serious end user
who really wants those keywords.

Just thought i'd had a few thoughts on this considering I'm french and live in France

I beleive this word has a geat potential considering that it is easily memorable (For a french user), and a french user and more particularly youths would type in n o t e m o i . c o m first as oppose to n o t e S m o i . c o m !

I would also like to point out that unless i've missed out something there has been no special site built on the rateme business model. Hence if the buyer is looking to build on this concept, it would most likely be a sucess with this domain name ...

Hence I would apraise this domain at a high €€€ (Yep euros in France ;-))

French is widely used almost everywhere in the world.. Don't under evaluate such a language. I'm in Canada, I hear french every day without fail.
My mother in law is asleep now (shes french) so I cant call and ask her the street translation for "r a t e m e" but I did a translation on the phrase in my usual source and came up with évaluez-moi with the dash in the middle.
It's been my experience with french that when the dash (-) belongs in a term, phrase, name or what have you, then it would be typed in for an internet search. i own jeanluc... but the lucky one owns jean-luc .. get my drift ?

I have to agree with the other fellows.
A French speaker will seldom say "note moi". This is not a common expression unlike "rate me".
I don't think the name is worth more than $$.
If you have the opportunity to sell do it.
I would try with an offer in the $$$ range, negotiable.
