Recently we sold our first domain name, CompareFuelPrice.com and realized that we probably could have sold it for more if we would have had an appraisal done.

Due to this recent success, we are looking to list a few domains with an auction house such as Afternic or TDNAM.

So it seems like our next logical step is to get a domain appraisal done before listing them.

Our questions are:

  1. Should we get the appraisal done by the auction house we list the domain with?
  2. Is there any one domain appraiser that is considered the best?
  3. Can we list our domains with multiple auction houses at the same time?
Some of the domains in consideration are:

  • DiversifyGlobally.com
  • EffortlessVacation.com
  • AmusementParkTicket.com
  • GiftCertificatesNow.com
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I like Moniker for appraisals.

Now I know that most appraisal services are worthless and most are over stated (hey if you think that your rich cause some site says you are, your going to keep going back to their site) however i do think that there is some value to Monikers appraisals.

Right now Domain Capital is the only company out there that offers financing of your names based on its perceived value.

Moniker is the only site that Domain Capital uses to value the names.

If a company like Domain Capital is willing to invest millions of dollars into names and trust that Moniker is appraising the names appropriately then I have to trust a Moniker appraisal.

Given the fact that every appraisal is verified by Monte Cahn Who in my opinion is one of if not the most qualified person in the world to appraise a domain name, you must realize that there is some value to Monikers appraisals.

You don't have to like Moniker, Monte or even appraisal companies, but I do think you have to give some merit to the Moniker appraisal.

I will be releasing a video of my experience with both Moniker and Domain Capital on financing one of my names.

You can also get some useful opinions about your domains' value by posting them in this forum!

To be honest, I see no particular value in the domains you mentioned. You did very well to get $251 for CompareFuelPrice.com. But perhaps other members will have different opinions ....

I agree. You get actual people looking at the domain and putting their price on it, not some computer program or people who have other means to gain (i.e. as mentioned, making you think you're rich so you come back).

You won't get an exact number here but more like a range of what it could be worth, which IMO is even better.
