I don't usually buy keyword or geo .net domains, so I'd appreciate some imput on the value and development ideas.

I personally view this as a gem for travel and tourism.

I love the name and have been to Pompeii.

Value? easily low xx,xxx in my book with upper xx,xxx and 6 figures for a well developed site for general tourism of the area, the ruins, Rome, and so on.

It is going to be perhaps somewhat difficult to hook up with the right affiliates. Look to see if the Italian airlines (alitalia.com) have affiliate programs. Perhaps SelectItaly.com has affiliate programs. Because of long lines and waiting lists we were able to buy tickets to events well in advance before we got to Italy. Also someone like TrenItalia.it for affiliates. This is a huge tourist spot not far from Naples. Great opportunities to hook up with local merchants.

Pompeii.com is redirected to http://meffm.com/bright/ (The Pompeii Podcast). A terrible waste of a great name but a great opportunity for you to grab this market.

I seriously love it, love it, love it but can't afford it :)

Mid-high $x,xxx resale, but I would develop it, and gain that much per month instead.

I would go with what Doc Com mentioned about a tourism/info/history related site. I think with a developed site, you'll get tons of clicks via Google from school kids trying to find information on a school project. Especially if you lace the site with tons of info about Mt. Vesuvius, volcanos, etc.

Well, you don't have so many choices with the development. It should be an informational site and your biggest income would be from hotel bookings (like 5 times more than Adsense) if you do it right.
