It went to a full gallop right out of the gate.

If you look at the "betting" page, I am 3rd entry from the bottom.
Which was a "bet" of $ 700.

Before, I could get back to the auction page. The 5th entry from the
bottom had taken it to $ 1,000.

And, it continued its heavy stride. And, I was left in the dust.

I wonder where it will be in 2 1/2 days?

I own OVE.com. Too bad I can't put it up for bid on Pool. I would even let Pool have a 10% commision. :>)

Well that's the sixty-four million dollar question isn't it. If pool have all these "loaded" buyers, why havn,t they opened an external auction component? Wouldn't you part with 50% commission if OVE went to $4000 in that time and God knows how much in two days?

...and BTW it's at $13,600.00 now

Well, 50% would be kind of an outrageous commission and would be hard to agree to, not knowing how the bidding would go. On the other hand, if it were 10% on the first $5000, 20% on the next $5000, and 30% on anything over $10K, I would go for it.

To get the right kind of bidder attention, Pool (or someone else) would have to be very selective of the domains that they auction. After all, the people who are willing to bid high will not want to wade through xqb.us and myverybestsuper.com to get to the few names worthy of their time & attention. Perhaps that would be a format that would work? A real live person decides on a few names worth auctioning.

PremiumDomainAuction.com is available. Or maybe DNF could create such a thread? Or Pool, for that matter. Limit it to 3 domains/day? Then promote it through everyone who is a member of DNF? One could even charge $5/name just to have a name considered. That would be a good first level of separating out the gold from the silt. It would certainly pay for the person who was deciding which names to auction.

Everyone with some really good domains would like to have this kind of opportunity.

Great idea, I really like it!

However there is one majour flaw in this (imo).

I belive the high bidders @ pool, are bidding for more than just "owner ship of XXX.com".

I think some may be bidding to change the industry, or other meens.

You will notice many big buyers will shell it out @ pool etc but not pay as much for domains otherwise.

Unless ofcourse, there is the possible big buyer discount :dead:

But of course. There are strategic reasons behind tactical shenanigans.

1. Psychologically and financially force the small player out of the drop game

2. Build a sympathy case that the drop cottage industry is a thriving and lucrative one feeding the lifelihoods of many poor and struggling ICANN registrars and Verisign just wants to bully everyone and take it all away just to feed its monopolistic greed.

3. Rally greater support among ICANN registrars participating in the Pool system buy showing them the financial honey of drops and why they should oppose the WLS at all cost.

Just pure and simple crap brainwashing.

The consumer is held ransom to the vagarities of a totally non-transparent price fixing system that has caused the original $69 per drop Snapnames value model to bloat tens of times, sometimes hundreds of times, bigger.

And everyone claims Verisign is the bad guy, the greedy one. How ironical.

Bring ON WLS!

Network Solutions spends all of their time trying to construct a way to get themselves out of the red instead of updating their 1980's system and support. WLS is their only way out.

In addition, I would be willing to bet that when Verisign sold off the company they were hoping to unload the burden of the registry also but the buyers didn't want to pay billions for something losing millions.

Since, this info will not effect 99% of the forum.

KOD.com is now at $ 28,173. with 2 days and 1.5 hrs to
closing.

I wonder if we will see the amount drop 90% like it did last week?

kod.com has a $501 bid at eNom WLS pre-order aka First Dibs (NOT club drop!).

Wonder what happens if WLS is implemented, will eNom force the bidder pay for the WLS slot? :cheeky:

Either egomania or fraud!? And what's the big deal in the first place? A misspell for "kid"?

IMHO misspells are going to be worthless in the future when all you will have to do is "say" to your computer where it is you want it to go. "KOD." Computer shows COD. "KID." Computer shows KID. (Maybe a page will appear with thumbnails of all of the different extensions.) I believe this day will come to pass. As keyboards are to gas guzzlers--wholly inefficient! And eventually (into sci-fi!): Just "think" where it is you want it to go!

No, M. It means Kleptomaniac Obsessive Domainers. I honestly think its time ICANN knocks into the heads of domain maniacs that they just can't deprive real users/developers of domain names through sky-high pricing just because of some kleptomaniac speculation disease. The WLS is our only hope, albeit small, to knock some sense into madness.

To be fair, BD domains are very reasonably priced compared to the madness out there. But even BD must be feeling the heat today.

OR it could be the short version of :

"Kiss of Death"

It would be great if Pool opened it up so we could get some names in. If KOD.com is at 28K now its gonna be 50k before long. Didn't Che.net go for like 38k?

Its insane ... how do we translate this insanity to the regular market?

You can't, zoot. If you were to do a quick analysis of all the domains that went over $10k at Pool, you would find that not a single one has translated into a working site with any real potential of recovering the cost of acquisition. Prove me wrong, please. I would really like to know what I may be missing.
