The same 3 or 4 bidders were driving up the prices on a number of auctions at Pool today.

Here are some of the results I saw:

fail.ca - $2550
jealous.ca - $1250
iCondo.ca - $875
crowd.ca - $825
y2.ca - $425

mortgagecompany was $450 or so.
o7 - .$160 I believe - I was on the phone at the end and missed bidding
o9 i got.

And yes same few people as the other auctions bidding them up. there were lots of people in the auctions but only a few actually bid. Guess everyone was hoping for the $60 grab...

Some more:

o8.ca - $190
o9.ca - $200
dhf.ca - $150
o7.ca - $160
klt.ca - $80

Surprised that y2.ca went for less than $500. Then again, what can you do with it?

I'm surprised at the low prices for the LN.ca, thought two character would go for more. probably a good investment for the buyers.

'Fail' is a big word used by kids today, as in 'epic fail', or 'carwash fail', etc. Do a search on YouTube and there are lots of funny videos.

I saw pear.ca end at Siber for $1952 last week

I have been selling quite a few .ca domains as of late. I am surprised to hear someone says the market looks weak.

What price range are you selling them at?

Been pretty quiet for me lately, in terms of inquiring emails or phone calls out of the blue.

Minimum $1500USD and for two word keywords.

I dont have a huge number of calls come in, but I have never advertised my inventory either. People usually need to track me down through whois =)

But with the recent sales I havs had I have been really bullish on ccTLD's, especially the .ca and certain domain hacks

Looking at the prices on the drop. What do you guys feel the value of premium single word keywords are today.

Things like:
car
schools
acting
flights
discount

I would agree that the market "appears" weak...but in reality I think it's quite strong...names have just shifted and people are no longer looking at the "pie in the sky" but more realistic uses and development ideas. I've seen some great US deals lately and as they say "buy low, sell high"...read between the lines ;)

i wonder... the whois does not show our contact info anymore since the changes and people have to message through CIRA to contact us. will reduce the amount of inquiries???

Sure, that actually makes a fair amount of sense.

Hmm... Maybe its time to build that system to give my domains landing pages with contact info....

its great for free privacy, but it makes it harder for people to find the sellers

You can display your whois via your registrar - don't forget it can take up to 1 hour for changes to be visible under the new (and so much improved - not) system.

I wonder with the new Cira system is the option to have privacy still going to be free??? or can/will the registrars now charge for that?

Far as I can tell it would have to be free and available to all because CIRA is following the privacy laws of Canada. Their move to private registrants came as a result of new legislation.

This isn't a recent change. CIRA has had WHOIS privacy turned on by default for some time now. The only difference with the new EPP system is that registrants can no longer themselves turn on/off WHOIS privacy - registrars have to do it for them.

Can we turn privacy on or off individual domains? before we had to have privacy turned on or off every domain in your account.
