Please appraise Portable.mobi

One of the definitions in Answer.com: "A handheld or transportable electronic device such as a PDA or laptop computer".

In French it means "mobile", example: telephone portable = mobile phone.
Overture France without ext. : 547,231.

About 240m pages in Google.

Thanks!

Very nice - mid-high xxx if .mobi takes off. If it doesn't, you'll probably still be able to find a buyer at low xxx.

Redundant isn't all that bad but is does hurt it, in my opinion. I guess it could be for buying portable devices on your mobile, but that seems limited. Oh well. Could be wrong.

Again, for French speaking people, it means mobile phone. Imagine a m-commerce site selling mobile phones in France (in 2-3 years time), then it is the perfect name.

Hi Fredo,

Why will those potential buyers use a m-commerce site instead of a regular website ?
Do you really think there is a real need for a .mobi when providing internet navigation to a mobile device ?

Yes, try to buy a book on Amazon from your mobile phone. I even get problems to check my yahoo inbox on a mobile... The .mobi and the ready check (http://ready.mobi/index.html) are really a need to identify a site that will show up well on mobiles.
