Two competing groups say they plan to begin the expensive application process for creating a .gay Internet domain suffix, similar to existing domains like .com and .edu.

This is such a stupid and imo a rather regressive idea. It would be not different from having a .Blacks or .Whites .Yellows extension. It's an unnecessary segmentation of a populist that the last thing it needs is this kind of segmenting. It should be about inclusion- this idea reeks of money grabbing and separation.

Foxo, I think you are overreacting. Inclusion is nice, but this is about marketing - and marketing is defined by exclusion, i.e. defining your markets so that they exclude people who are not interested in your product. I hate societies that tribalize themselves this way, but marketing is another story. Your other examples are simply skin color, not a very useful way to define a market.

Gays are a lucrative market. Mostly no kids, often double income. And they are looking for gay-friendly products, information and services. Whether it's enough to support a TLD is another question, but I'm sure this will be far from the worst TLD we will see.
