Problem with Network Solutions

Hi, everyone. I am having a problem with my account at Network Solutions and am hoping someone can shed light on it for me. My situation:

For around twenty years I have had four dotcom domains with Register.com.

Early this year I discovered that Registrar had been taken over by Network Solutions.

In 2020 I changed my email address with Register.com, and can furnish confirmation of this.

However, Network Solutions are insisting on sending transfer emails to my old defunct email address. In order to change this again they are making me jump through verification hoops.

If they do permit the change, my domains will be locked in for a further sixty days.

It seems that ICann are unable to help me.

Any comments?

The sixty day lock is the part that gets misread. Under the transfer policy it hangs off a change of registrant, meaning a change to the name, organisation or email on the contact record, and it only blocks a move to another registrar. It does not stop you renewing, editing DNS or keeping the names where they are, so I would not trade a working portfolio for an email change you can postpone for a while.

The harder problem is proving you are the registrant when the address on file is dead. Send them the 2020 confirmation, then ask in writing for a manual registrant verification rather than retrying the automated flow, and offer the documents they usually accept for that route. If they keep bouncing you between support queues, a compliance complaint about being unable to update registrant contact details tends to produce a human quite quickly.

One habit worth keeping through all of this is a record of expiry dates and renewal costs held outside the registrar account, because a locked account is only survivable while you still know exactly what is due and when.

Your reply is much appreciated. Thank you. Luckily, I have records of all renewal dates, the first of which is some while ahead, so hopefully I can get verified before then.
