I have a question about Chinese traffic.

I have a project for which I want to acquire Chinese traffic, and I am trying to figure out how to get it with type-ins.

Let's assume I am selling a product called "Chinese rice" to the Chinese. Let's assume the Chinese people are familiar with this product by name. Some may be typing it in. But how are they doing that?

What would be the best domains to own to get type-in traffic on that subject?

ChineseRice.com?
ChineseRice.cn?
[CHINESE-RICE-IN-IDN-ENCODING].com?
[CHINESE-RICE-IN-CHINESE-CHARACTERS].com?
[CHINESE-RICE-IN-CHINESE-CHARACTERS].cn?

What extensions do the Chinese type-in? How many of them use IDN? How accessible is IDN now? How fast is IDN use growing? How many of them type-in English words?

Does anybody have a clue about this?

Foreign traffic experts --please let me know what you think!

Definitely get a chinese member to advise on the correct version of the usage.

In regards to .cn and .com. China has made it known that it wants to be the largest registrar in the world and wants more .cn in existence than .com. They also claim that by the end of the year 2009 they will have more computers than any other nation. China can and will achieve these goals.

Earlier last week, China mandated that all government office and entities are to use .cn and not .com. China has the economic and political power to mandate how business is to be conducted in China. Ask google about the concessions they had to make in order to do business in Mainland China.

I not only look for China to require all business with locations in china to use .cn, but they are also pushing IDN very heavy. This is followed by a very recent announcement of India pushing the same for its .in and native language usage.

Some may blow this off as nonsense. But when you have the two most populated nations on earth and arguably number one and two economic power houses dictating and pushing this forward it is hard to discount this as nonsense.

Is it any wonder that China is nearly giving away the .cn at 1 Yuan?

Once you get clear definition of which variant of rice characters to use, I would recommend that if possible reg both the .com and .cn.

Trust me the majority of domainers have been blowing off IDN as nonsense for a very long time. Even with all of this information.
