Hi

I have had someone interested in the domain name Stevenage.org

They are wanting to know how much it would cost. How much should I tell them is a fair price for both parties? The interested party is Stevenage Council.

Thanks,

Craig

Sounds like an attorney organization? If that is the case I would ask $1000 for it ... I dont see it being worth much more than regular fee to you personally ... unless they develop a very similar name .org and you receive some typo traffic from it.

Good luck

Thanks for your appraisals.

Stevenage council is a government body for the district of Stevenage in the UK. They are currently undergoing a £200Million project for the re-development of Stevenage and the domain will be used to host a website detailing all this re-development.

Stevenage is a district of the UK capital city of London.

Ok, with that said ... then i would ask much more. Hard to put an exact figure on it because you don't want to "scare" them away. Maybe $5k.

Good luck

They already own stevenage.co.uk & stevenage.gov.uk

tip: use escrow.com so they can pay with GBP£ and price it in GBP£ in the negotiation.

What other names might they have available to them, i.e., is there some reason stevenage.org is the only name that works for them. Additionally, I know working with municipalities, they often have a magic number they can use as discretionary funds, beyond that optaining approval becomes much more involved. That is of course in the states. Here that number is often 5k, but unless you happen to know that number ( if of course it applies at all) it's probably not worth guessing.

Curious, what was the first number that popped into your head when looking at this sale? And, is being high to begin with going to put you out of the money....how competitive is your market?

Just a few thoughts.

Thanks for the post Nacho

Stevenage.org is the name that works for them because in the uk, aside from .gov.uk, .org is one of the main tld's for districts, counties etc

When I was propositioned with interest in the domain name, £5k was a figure that popped into my head.

I will reply to their email with this figure, as I personally think it would be a fair amount for both parties.

Regards,

Craig
