Register.com just changed the price of transferring a domain from $35 to $200. Have they gone nuts?

Are they still your preferred registrar as per your profile? I had thought that everyone got their Domains out of there.

Mike

Not all. But that is about to change.

You mean OWNERSHIP transfer, do you?

Yes. But 35$ to 200$!! What would justify such an increase? Extreme greed?

Yeah, certainly they aren't charging to transfer away....

would make for an interesting policy shift.

They are digging their own grave now. For $35, I have already been transfering REGISTRAR together with ownership; now with $200, they are simply asking people to leave! Stupid!

i'm glad i have moved all my names from them.

forget register.com
they will soon disappear in the internet industry

I'll give them $500 for the domain register.com
;)

Well, to be fair, they sold AfterNIC.com for way much more than that.

talk about luck...
I got my last 'decent' domain outta there last month!

now I only have about 10 hostaged domains, but they can keep em.

register.com get very good traffic and has a good name and reputation

i think even if they changed the price they know what they are doing and they will frighten out those customers whom they don't need any more
