I have 3 domains there that I registered from their unpaid names department last year. I will be transferring them soon as they are due, but that's not for 6 months. I looked all over the control panel to lock them down, I couldn't find any option.

I emailed their support and they replied that they don't have the option to lockdown given their fraud checking processes.

You believe that? Did I get a tech that didn't know what they were talking about, or has anyone else had this same experience with them?

This is for security reason, though as the owner you may request to unlock the domain so you can initiate the transfer. Keep me posted if everything working ok with your issue.

Regards,
tw

No, I wanted to LOCK the names for security reasons. :) Their CS told me in that email there is no way to lock the name with their system.

I have domains with Godaddy and Enom, both allow for locking or unlocking in the control panel.

I just thought it weird.

.com .net .org are safe at register.com since only a timed email link to the current contact is able to initiate and make any changes.

Not so easy or secure on other tld.
