I've got a domain registered at RegisterFly, expired 2 days ago. I have been trying to renew it there for several weeks but it keeps failing and Registerfly wont reply to any emails. I've tried to transfer it to GoDaddy but they need an authorisation number sent to the original registrant, which I don't have. I suspect the site is also locked by RegisterFly.
Can anyone give any advice on what I can do? The site is PR5 so I'm not happy about losing it! WHOIS still has me as the owner but Registerfly confusingly lists the domain as expired now and asks me to renew, and then states I dont own the site.
I know RegisterFly have had a lot of problems/bad news recently.
I'd buy it again but I think it will be snapped up as soon as it is released.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Use the following steps to be able to gain auth code and unlock a domain.
(It may be too late for expired names)

1 Log into your Registerfly account

2 Click on total domains

3 Click on the domain for which you require auth code

4 It will say locked at the domains properties click on it to unlock the domain.

5 Click on domain contact information (plus sign)

6 Press configure

7 On the next page will be to see the auth code for the domain at the bottom of the page.

Remove the protect fly for the transfer of domain.

Hi,
I've tried all you suggested in Registerfly. Going to my account making sure protectfly is off, checking contact info. Going to the contact info and whois in the account. With some names it had an authorization code and with some the authorization code remained blank no matter what I did. For some domains the words "authorization code" does not even appear on the page.

The new registrar - in this case GoDaddy that I want to transfer the names to says they need the authorization code and can't do anything about it.

I got a list of Registrars and on that list it has a letter from ICANN saying they are revoking Registrfly's certification so they can no longer register names. However I understand that they had 30 days to appeal the decison which they have done. They have not answered any of my support tickets or calls.

Any suggestions on getting my domains out of Registerfly before they actually go out of business will be appreciated.

All the best,
Ted Sudol

If you can't see the auth info code then I think you may need to try asking enom. Regfly used to be a reseller for them.

better yet -
go to godaddy.com .. use the lost password action - enter the domain name - go through the procedure - godaddy probably HAS your domain now - and will allow you to renew it. It should be in a new account for you already since godaddy took over regflies remaining domains. I recovered nearly all of my domains that I thought I had lost.

If the domain has ENOM in the whois - they sent out emails several months ago about getting the name transferred into an enom account (for free) -
You might contact them but be prepared it may cost $$$

I received yesterday an email from registerfly asking me to renew a domain name expiring in september. I checked my new GoDaddy account with the regfly names and this name has not been transfered to GoDaddy :veryangry:

I'm going to try a transfer, any advice appreciated :)

You can transfer any .ca to another .ca registrar even if it is expired. You go to another registrar and choose registrar transfer (not registrant transfer) for the domain name. Then once you have completed that you just have to log into your cira account and OK the transfer. REgfly can't stop the transfer as there is no verification code like the .coms. From the sounds of the regfly situation I would not renew it with them.

All my domain names were automatically transfered to a new godaddy account. check whois to see who the register is of your domain name... chances are its not registerfly anymore... I dont think they have possession of any names anymore.

yes godaddy took over.
one thing I dont understand though. I see all my crappy .info's from regfly were renewed in godaddy automatically for another year and I didn't pay for any renewals.. so godaddy did?!

I also have a domain stuck between GoDaddy and RegFly:

WHOIS
Expiration Date:27-Nov-2007 15:43:05 UTC
Sponsoring Registrar:GoDaddy.com, Inc. (R91-LROR)
Status:OK
Registrant Name:Responsible Party Responsible Party
Registrant Organization:Registerfly.com
Registrant Email:[email protected]

I tried to get it back and got this final reply from GoDaddy:

Hello,

Unfortunately, we will not be able to assist you with your request as the current registrant (legal owner) of the domain is RegisterFly.com. As the registrar we can only make this type of change after verifying the consent of the registrant. At this point you will need to contact www.RegisterFly.com for assistance with this domain name.

If RegisterFly is unresponsive or unwilling to assist you in this matter the only suggestion we can offer you would be to contact an arbitration forum such as WIPO (http://www.wipo.int) or settle the matter via the local court system.

Thank you,

Domain Services

I even posted my problem to ICANN blog, and no ICANN guy bothered replying.

I am losing the domain, what else can I expect?
