Hi,

I had 1 domain with registerfly which i bought from someone and their entire renewal process sucks big time.

Since they are now ICANN accredited, they are by default transferring the clients domain into their registrar without giving me an option and now they claim it might take upto 5 or 10 days for the renewal to complete. What crap?

probelm is that this domain of mine expires on 10th of this month, so what happens if the renewal is not completed within that date? I have to lose that domain?

Even their interface is useless and i had to search around for 10 mins to find out how to renew my domain, and ya forgot to mention, they don't support paypal either. hmmm

what gives?
Thanks for any help.

I always hear someone complaining about registerfly.
Sorry, can´t help you.

Make sure the domain is unlocked, verify whois (in particular admin E-mail) and transfer away NOW.

Stopped using ripoff-fly years ago. Their service is just a joke, at least it was when they were enom resellers, don't know how they are now, but from my past experiences with them I would not even consider doing any business with them..

10th is the expiry date and what happens if i apply for transfer now?

Will i get to retain the domain while its been transfered to new registrar and also the renewal happens immediately?

Thanks

Yes they do have terrible service. I have a pile of names there when I transferred them in with their cheap $4 transfers. I saved a bunch of money BUT I spent a tremendous amount of time on it with support and making sure each domain made it and I was refunded for all the ones that didn't. Total pain in the butt. I won't be renewing anything there. I had the same problem as the OP...my domain did make it. Send them a support ticket but most likely you will get a canned response. I really hate their support and system.

IMHO....RF is the worst registrar for both support and service.

I submitted a ticket to their support but as you said, they just made 1 canned reply. I have replied again asking for specifics.

But... shall i transfer it out now again to a new registrar at this point of time. Is it safe to do it at this time?

Thanks

If there are 5 days left or so you should be OK :greenwink:
But don't delay, transfer today.

I got one out of there the same day it expired - but don't take a chance like I did!

Registerfly? They are still around?

Surprises me too :cheeky:

Last I heard they are now ICANN accredited.. Dunno where they get the business from cos you can never find a good word about them anywhere

Must be concentrating on targetting newbs for hosting and domains sales, but newbs are only newbs for a little while and will soon see the error of their ways, then rippoff-fly will go :censored: up

Actually, i bought this domain in the secondary market and that is why its still there. I never register my domains with them.

I have got an email which says, i have asked for transfer... which says something like this...

Registerfly.com received notification on Sep 5 2006 12:00AM (EST) that you have requested a transfer to another domain name registrar. If you want to proceed with this transfer, you do not need to respond to this message. If you wish to either cancel or expedite the transfer, please respond to this message before Sep 10 2006 12:00AM (EST) by using the following URL:

What is this? Is this transferring into registerfly or transfer away from registerfly?

Pls help me with this quickly.

Thanks much

I have just transfered 2 domains away from them.
So far I have transfered tens of names away and never a single problem. Just don't wait until the last minute and check that the whois is still correct, in particular admin E-mail.

the only business I deal with registerfly is when snaped some names by namewinner

Wow, I didnt know registerfly was that bad...

I will try to avoid them then. Cheap n good doesnt always go together, I guess.

Well... they are not cheap either.

Is there any authority like ICANN, I can contact and complain about such business practices?

Thanks for any help.

Cheers

I don't think ICANNT really cares these days. The registerfly fiasco shows how easily you can get registrar credentials. IMO with such a horrible history they should never have been approved. Shouldn't ICANNT conduct serious audits into would-be registrar ?!

Be very careful if you have domains with them. Always keep a list of domains and respective expiry dates.
Do not rely on the automated reminders when renewal comes due. For some unknown reason, some domains are losing their whois information and revert to their default profile (ie their contact details will show up instead of yours, as if they had taken over your domains). So you will not receive notifications like renewal notice etc.
Sometimes names would vanish from your account. They are actually losing names !
Unfortunately thousands of people and businesses depend on their lousy practices and buggy scripts :veryangry

Quote of the day: avoid delay, transfer today ^^
