registering a new **.ca domain name

Please not the domains are only examples;

I'm entrusted in the domain name carsmods.ca "I live in Canada" and was also entrusted in the domain name carsmods.com but its already taken.

the example domain name; carsmods.com is used as a forum just like this forum...

would there be any legal problems registering carsmods.ca and running a forum on the same topics as the already registered .com?
