There are a number of registrars who send all their domains to the big drop catchers...like Network solutions sending their domains exclusively to Snapnames, Enom to clubdrop, godaddy to tdnam....etc.

What are some of the other registrars who either auction it themselves or send it to a catcher not listed above?

Does anyone send their listings directly to Pool to be auctioned off? I'm not talking about grabbing the domains at the drop.....but the domains being directly auctioned off without a drop!

does godaddy and wildwestdomains both auction their domains in TDNAM? Or do they put them directly to their domain backorder service ($18.95). It seems to me that I have tried to get domains that have been registered to godaddy....and even though I had a backorder, I still lost out to another company.

I dont think Pool has an exclusive agreement with anyone.
Tucows are sending all of their domains to https://ddirect.domainauctionservice.com/ after they take for themselves all the high traffic and generic domains.

I found your post while searching for "Tucows". I recently won a domain and cant take control of it. I've paid for it even.

The whois isnt mine, control isnt mine. They dont answer the phone at tucows or domaindirect although they have a phone support system. They dont reply to emails, and even when trying to retrieve forgotten password to my auction account i never get an email.

Anyone know what I can do outside of going to their office in Toronto ?

I'll try it now.

presently i'm on two phones on hold with them and tucows.

I've got at least an hour logged today between this phone and my cell through the endless loop of phone support. I'm also thumbing two sites now.

I've been at this a few weeks. I'll be in T.O. next week I hope at which time I can walk in thier office.

I do email them also.

heres the confirm email i did moments ago.

WHOIS and reseller contact information for xxxxx.com has been sent to
[email protected]

The email never came.

Yes and Yes.

I am a reseller and any that drop go to tdnam as GoDaddy owns WildWest and TDnam.

It is possible to snag some with a backorder. But as soon as a bid is entered, the backorder is negated. And if there is already a backorder, yours will not be accepted. Is it a legitimate backorder? Probably not. It may be GoDaddy themselves saying it is unavailable as a backorder as they plan to take it to auction. Is it any surprise that no three character domains are available for backorder?

Fair? It doesn't have to be. When you hold the keys to the gate, you are the gate keeper. You get in by their rules.

Personally, I am not a fan of TDNAM as they are too much into hyping up and falsifying their own domains for sale and legitimate private sellers are buried beneath all the hype. 100% of the proceeds from their (GoDaddy) own names goes to GoDaddy and they only make 5% on private sales.

Guess where they concentrate their efforts?

You are better off looking for expired domains that don't have the green icon indicating a traffic domain. There are some real bargains to be had if there is no hype behind them.

I have seen my own domain names that I cancelled for non performance placed on auction with falsified traffic. If they had been that good to begin with, I would have never dropped them. I have called this to their attention but got no response.

Primarily, I am a reseller so I can give myself a price break on regging domains, web hosting, and backorders. If you do it enough, it pays for itself in the savings. With a few thousand domains, it definitely pays for itself in savings.

I find this whole registrar auctions somewhat anti-competitive and breaching on insider trading.

I do hope ICANN put a stop to it.

Ok, just for others to know what the story is I will quickly surmize the info given to me over the phone just now. I never gave up with the phone calls and finally someone answered.

The operator tells me the auction was for domains in redemption. Meaning when it finally drops in a hundred or so days the domain will be given to me. I'm apparently recieving an information package now. That explains the odd whois information. The non-answered email support was due to their high demand for support. They have several branches and its obvious they arent well connected to each other. The info link for the issue im having is on an unrelated site at the bottom of the page named "help". When I finally get the name they will have parked it and send me the info i need to take control of the domain.

It's all very strange still and I'm not sure I like the system thier using but will use it more and then understand it better. As well, although I've paid for the domain they tell me the old owner can still claim it as it is in redemption. The redemption fee is 109$. The domains they have in auction are what I feel the bottom of the barrell names. In the month I've been watching thier auctions I've only bid on one name and I'd buy many if they were there. But again, the system is odd and I'm not sure it's worth the trouble. And what happens to my money if it gets redemed is a question I forgot to ask.

Thanks for the link madcamel, Thats good for names which you have control for.
