it used to be a huge market in computer technology late last centure.
The term definately exists.
In the laste 90s it was used more for software that remotely controlled terminals in server clusters, i remember because I was in that market for a while (research).
Today's merket for remoteterminals is more hardware related, and shrinking, but still existing.
