Responding to letter of interest

Hi there guys,

I have received a letter of interest from a professional services company on behalf of what I think is a very large company. They are basically asking if I'd be interested in parting with a domain (that has been unused for years) and state their client wishes to buy it. The name has a definite TM issue.

Just wondering how I should proceed with this? Can I name a price without adding ammunition to an "abusive" registration claim? Can I ask them for an offer or offers in a ball-park? Is it good practice to reply "without prejudice"?

there is risk even if your domain is generic




by it being tm, could add more risk, but owning a tm is risky in itself......so what do you have to loose, especially if it's an unused domain?


also depends on how afraid you are of losing the domain or having to be involved in a c&d issue.


if neither of the above bother you, then ask them to make an offer


you can always say that "you have plans for development of the domain, but may consider selling, depending on offered amount."
