For several reasons, I consider this to be a *hot* domain and thus I didn't bid. Did you verify legitimate ownership of the seller on eBay?

Love to hear your logic on this one. Or are you still just upset about written.com? :'(

Not at all upset. But I won't reveal my logic until I gather some more evidence.

We are all collegues here, Radistar asked a simple question. I don't know the story behind the anomosity but I am see to much of that here.

No animosity - the domain was sold on eBay for around $1,250 if I recall correctly.

I sent blacksmiley via PM my justifications about why I am almost certain this is a stolen domain.

Okay, see we didn't know the story. If it is truely stolen then it is his duty to return it to the proper owner, or legal actions can ensue.

If you believe it is stolen and you know the owner then, why don't you report it? Is my only question to you.

I can't play cop for everyone; my info indicated that the domain is potentially stolen. That's why I didn't bid on it. The letters are excellent. No reply from the apparent previous owner (not the seller). That's all for the time being.

It was merely a joke...but, I agree the matter needs to be looked into further.

Anyway, I have recently authenticated the domain so I would appreciate only appraisals at this point. For the two of you that were involved in the previous conversation re:hot domain feel free to pm me if you are curious.

So appraisals please?

Since you own the domain, take it for what it's worth:

Nice letters, lots of acronyms. But it's worth as much as someone would pay for it. I've sold 3-letter domains for $400+, allegedly "bad letters" for $1k+ and good letters for 5 figures.

This one can fetch $5k retail. If you don't develop, hold onto it.

Very nice letter combination! Mid to high $X,XXX, even into the $XX,XXX range.

Good luck with the domain!

Low XXX.xx at the moment. The biggest potential customer the Republican National Committee is branding GOP.com

RNC.org points to GOP.com

Until that changes your biggest customers may not buy.

I seen it on ebay as well, didnt fancy it at that price, personally i think it was to much, but like radistar said if you can find the right end user it could be a lot of cash, just like fashionwalker was appraised at $10.00,reg fee etc but sold for 17.5k,yet i wouldnt of paid $100.00 for it,the key is finding an end user.

My appraisal $xxx but who knows its a funny old game.

Good luck !

When it comes to politics, people are willing to pay. It is a highly emotional topic, which fortunately enough for me does translate into good money. You are talking about the committee in charge of one the two major parties in the United States or the convention that party holds. I have to imagine that if I was willing to pay $1275 for the domain certain individuals out there would pay at least 5 times as much. Either to develop a certain site or to protect a parody site from being built. I can honestly say that if anyone owns similar generic political domains, in good extensions, I would pay a similar amount. Thanks for the appraisals and sorry if people feel like I am becoming defensive, but come on, low xxx or comparing this domain to fashionwalker.com??? Awesome result, but it is a completely different situation.

This is the risk one takes when investing in abstract entities, such as domain names. Personally, I think you overpaid for it - unless your ROI plan has already taken into account specific contacts etc. I've been lucky enough, in that respect, to be contacted for such domains by buyers who are not afraid to disclose their interest, nor the fact that they would pay a fair price for the domain. I would start looking elsewhere, if I were you though - politics has all the corruption and none of the money.

I will update this post in the future. All BS aside, I already know that you are in for at least a small shock. As I expected, there is somewhat an interest in this sort of political domain and to be honest thus far it has been anti RNC. This most certainly is not the type of domain that you sit and hold on to, but by being proactive I have already received a notable offer. Apparently political animosity is worth a fair amount of money.

Although I support the democrat/liberal side of politics, I'd be more inclined to say that acronyms don't serve well the bashers of either side. But I am prepared to eat my virtual hat if you do get money from the dirty politicians! :-D
