HELP. I need an appraisal. I bought this domain name in 2004 for a special project that never developed into anything. Now I don't know whether to hold onto or sell...... Can Aanybody give me their thoughts on its value?

Can you provide a little background on the name, like meaning and target market?

Since 2004 no one grabbed any of the other extensions. This doesn't look good for the value of the domain. But more details will help in assessing its worth.

It was purchased for a friend to be used as their website. Project never moved forward and I've just been hanging onto it.

What made you purchase it? What is the meaning of the name? Why did your friend want this name as opposed to others?

There is some value in the name, but it is hard to assess without more info. The 's' hurts the value a lot unless, sorry for repeating, there is special meaning or market.

Without further details, I see very limited resale value in sarafinas unless you get someone with the last name 'sarafinas' and a deep pocket.

It was the name of their restaurant but they never followed through with developing it.
Thats all there is to it.... I appreciate your input. It just kind of "died on the vine" if you know what I mean.....

Is the domain getting traffic? This is another aspect that can help you get higher value.

Otherwise, at this time, I don't see much more than mid to high $XX to a reseller. If you get the right buyer (i.e. Mr. or Ms. Sarafinas or other special interest) then you will be able to negotiate higher price.

I like the name. It's catchy and marketable. But seems to need a lot of work to become really valuable, IMHO.

eCafe - Thanks for taking the time to reply. Thats kind of what I figured... I've got a couple of names in the same boat... Could be worth something if I developed them but sitting as they are.... not worth much.... thanks again for taking the time..

My pleasure.

There's something in the name that triggers a cord. But as you say...

Maybe someone else can offer another perspective.

All the best.
