I wouldn't let it go under $xxxx - reseller or not.

The science aspect is the right one. Find a way to build a minisite around it, if possible, to at least demonstrate value to a bigger end-user.

I've made profits (healthy ones) on 75% of my .us names, although in almost all cases they were somewhat dev'd or were simply too generically appealing and thus sellable.
