Remember these three words:

Location, location, location

My new purchase

Seattle.kids.us (can't believe crabby looked this one over---lol)

Lots of fortune 500 tech companies located in this region (Microsoft, Starbucks, etc)

I see buying "locale" type .kids.us names as being a "no-brainer". Getting sponsorship for a "kids.us" only site in a local area wouldn't be difficult.

Oh, and because the children being born today are of the "Digital Generation", I also picked up:

Digital.kids.us

*Digital TV (by 2007)
*Digtial Games
*Digital Phones
*Digital Photography
*Digital Music

How many .kids.us are you up to now izopod? Concept is nice but you know my stance already. :)

Right now, I would appraise it at $50.

I am "up to" Six... My "picks" have been very careful and deliberated.

Investments are tricky. You have to know what you are doing. As I see it, the internet is going to go "G" right shortly. With parents being sued because of their children illegally downloading, music and porn, etc, there will be a public outcry for a "Kids only" section of the internet. Oh, yeah, it's been done already. It's called "Kids.us".

bottomline: I see myself as a "Kids.us" internet provider. If you think about that, and what that means, and how few are involved, the potential is huge - risks very low.

$25

IMO it's a waste of money. Maybe if it was mp3.kids.us or games.kids.us or music.kids.us. Those would be okay.

For the money you spent regging 6 .kids.us names you could have bought one "real" domain.

I guess everyone can form their own opinion. Hopefully you took the time to do a little research before you came to your conclusion. My guess is that you didn't...

btw: If you didn't know it, which it's clear you don't, Games.kids.us and Music.kids.us were registry reserved.

Well that should tell you something. It should tell you that since those names were reserved there would be no point in buying these overpriced subdomains. Everyone else knew that already. Even Duke and the staunch "pro .us" crowd didn't waste their money on these.

kids.us are useless, just as all other subdomains are, just because some loser paid $9000 for one doesnt prove anything, because idiots have been known to buy all sorts of crappy names.

I remember when a member got laughed at for trying to sell doctors.us.com - which is about 50 times better than seattle.kids.us (no offense izopod) but kids.us is a worthless set of names....

It doesn't prove anything? Actually, it proves everything! It proves there is a retail market yet days after their release. Stop playing hooky, and go to your Business 101 classes.

:goofy:

That was paid at the launch at a bidding service. It wasn't a retail "sale" days after release.

juegos.kids.us musica.kids.us

Next time you eat Salsa, you'll understand.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but how can you say a kids.us domain is useless. Obvioulsy there is a huge market for kids and the majority of the commotion over the internet the past several years has been how to keep your kids safe while surfing on the internet! Well here's your answer! Regging city and state names is very smart as you can approach businesses and organizations within your community and help them get on board while you make some money as well. I regged TampaBay.kids.us and have already begun development on the site as well as those for the local aquarium, zoo, and theme parks.

With the restrictions on outside links, city names work great for promoting brick and mortar business in the area.

The government will do everything in their power to insure kids.us success and will evaluate and adjust the restrictions as needed.

I hardly think you've wasted your money. best of luck.

I'm a 'loser' too - yipee!!!

I took business 101, 202, 236 248, 311, 356, 400, 410 + Lab, 452, and 480 - all undergrad. My MBA had many more.

So, I'm educated 'loser'.

I'll need to look that up in encyclopedia.kids.us.

Overture search count for "KID" in June: 272,527!

You got it Bid. My sites construction starts Monday. I can imagine I will be one of the first to have their sites evaluated for the $250 fee. I will more than gladly post any experiences here for my friends! :-D

!

41 million children, plus at least 20 million parents potentially visiting your site. That is what I call targeted traffic, and corporations know it. They've been marketing to kids for years, now they have a safe/sure environment in which to enrich these children lives. I don't think it will all be about branding either, but who can do the best ".kids" site. I am banking on Disney to roll something spectacular out. It's kind of funny, but some of the flash work on children's sites is better than most non-children type sites.
