Hey fellow domain investors,

I’ve been in the domain flipping game for a while and recently started thinking—is it really possible to sell domains effectively without spending money on ads?

Most domain sales platforms (Sedo, Afternic, GoDaddy) offer premium listings, but they often take high commissions or require ad spending to get visibility. So, I wanted to start this discussion:

✅ What are the best free strategies you've used to sell domains?
✅ Do organic forum listings (NamePros, DNForum, etc.) actually bring buyers?
✅ How important is SEO and direct outreach for domain sales?
✅ Have you ever sold a domain purely through social media promotion?
✅ What’s your experience with cold emailing end-users?

I’d love to hear your thoughts and strategies. If you’ve managed to sell domains without paid ads, let’s share some insights!

One would imagine that such platforms have data which demonstrate the effectiveness, or lack thereof, of paid placements.

One would also imagine that if such paid placements increased revenue, reduced sales time, etc., they would be eager to share that data as an inducement to purchase paid placements.

Hi,

Forum listings the same as various social media group chats (telegram, whatsapp, fb, reddit, linkedin groups and more) are mostly for selling domains for wholesale prices.

Ayoub Kehel from the Arab Domain Academy claims that his community (if the domains are chosen wise) > with outbounding his community sells up to 7 domains (from 10) within 12 months.

Have recently moved in to an area whereby I promote domains on forums with descriptions and videos created by AI.

From there I link to Facebook, X, Linkedin etc, early days nothing particular but at the very least an interesting exercise.

Any luck selling any so far?
