Personally, I think Google has been taking intoxicating substances lately!

They are dropping people's sites from the index without warning or reason, and also site PR. A lot of people are complaining, and I've heard that's partly why Yahoo stopped using them.

Yahoo seems to be really on the upswing again, and it seems like they intend to give Google a run for their money!

So... SEO for Google may be self defeating- one day it works, then next day it gets you banned! Bleh!

I've never been banned, but I know people who have, and who had a PR6 drop to PR2 for no explainable reason.

Also, I read people in the Newsgroups who had a high ranking for certain keywords who plunged to #700, again with no explainable reason except that Google screwing around with the algo.

Despite their multi-million dollar IPO, I think Google is decaying, and Yahoo is arising again! If only the Yahoo site wasn't such quite so whorish, it would be a great place to search!

Should google be emailing them? :-D

IMHO- Yahoo is much easier to optimize for your keywords (than google) but G gives better results to the user (searchers).

No, but if your site drops from #7 on the first page to #758 never to be seen again, there should be a reason normal people can understand.

And Google is getting easier to spam, because they rely more on links than on website content. This is why so many portals and outdated sites get ranked so high. Crap for content, but tons of links from a network. That's SE spam and Googlebot seems to love it.
