Just be careful when contacting them, think of your email wording very carefully! Dont leave yourself open to a court case! It will become just another story of jo public against a giant, and we know that money is no problem to them!

just checked out their site, thay have TMed 'assurance' but obviosly for a totally different category, and their brand site is www.goodyearassurance.com

i think if you play your cards right and their brand takes off you can be due for a big payday.

It would be a longshot but you can always ask, Goodyear might
worry about being called cybersquatters for a name that could
be put to better use elsewhere. People wanting laws for sites to
represent what the domain means and such, anti-branding protesters
who want an astronomy site when they type sun.com!

OTOH, be a smart move for goodyear to use for their financing department.

It doesn't matter what category it falls in; once you offer a TM for sale to the TM holder then the "bad faith" clause is satisfied.

Its a generic word I sold mule.com to Kawasaki who has a trademark and they never once mention the word cybersquating. I'm sure assurance.com has been around much longer than their new marketing ploy. If you went out and registered it ten days ago rather than 10 years ago they might have a case.

Does it really matter if they have a TM or not? The word is generic, so no matter what they do, they don't have rights to a generic word no matter the case!
