Interesting. That doesn't seem to be a traffic domain. Would you mind sharing what they're converting on??

long distance calls, calling cards/plans and such. And I'm suprised more than you that it gets traffic.

last month:
US$ 33.60 113 50 % 44.25 US$ 0.67 US$ 297.32

They must be taking it as the international country exchange which is 011. Who'd have thought!!!!! Money well spent for that one.:photo:

Anyone finding it harder to find good overture terms in .ca?

A year or so ago it was easy to find good two word terms with overture over 30,000 now I'm really only seeing <30,000 on a good day

Seems to be no end in interest in .ca regs

What do you consider 'very high' for overture?

I've come to the conclusion that from here on in it's worth it to reg as much as possible, because soon the names like the ones on your list will be all gone. I'm not talking about crap names, but anything with high overture, highly brandable, commercial, popular, etc., things that a lot of people are searching for, will all go sooner than later. The chances are getting better all the time that these types of names will command some kind of premium, and become easier to develop the way technology is going. I see the interest in .ca much higher this year than last, does anyone else notice this too?

Here i will give one away...

downloadp*rn.ca 32000+ OVT

It's on the lower end. And since I'm getting away from adult domains best it goes to someone!

And yes I do notice some names I tuck away on my list that I come back later to grab are disappearing - especially one word dictionary words and LLL's with any acronym meaning, and not only OVT words or phrase domains.

Edit - I'm trying to register one right now with an OVT of 202852 but sibername is down, and my credit card is maxed out! 10dollar.ca needs to start taking paypal!

The adult domain or the other high ovt? The high ovt I'm trying to grab tonight is a newer term for an open source product - and what's nice, is it is not the product itself so i don't have to feel bad about squatting.

As for the adult domain - i would reg more as they do get traffic and CT. While the return is low per click, click away they do. At least for the bunch that i have already. If it earns more than regfee over a year, it's worth it in my book.

I find that some of the hardest names to get are Canadian City/Place Names - I believe many are reserved by cira for use by the city itself.

I think Kingston.ca is an example of that.

Aside from myself finding a few names that were not reserved (ex: TorontoIsland.ca + OttawaCarleton.ca + a new territory in Canada which I won't name here :)) - I was wondering if anyone else was able to secure any decent Canadian City/Place Names? (Please feel free to PM names if you do not want to Post them here.)

I was also lucky enough to get permission from a Gov't org to use the root of a premium 1-word .ca that they rego'd as a 3rd level domain - Demographics.ca (which I complemented with the French Versions, of course ;-))

My Best/Fav .ca drop & catch thus far has been Jedi.ca (to go with Sith.ca) - not so much for traffic but for intrinsic value. 'Jedi' is one of Stats Cans most highly reported 'religions' in Canada during Census time - more so than many other suspected 'mainstream/top religions'. :)

I also have/like VMail.ca - ILoveHockey.ca - Infopreneur.ca - Cybrary.ca - MarketingAndAdvertising.ca

...with a hand-full of other .ca names I hold comprising 1-2% of my portfolio.

While I enjoy and value .ca for many reasons, my primary focus of development and monetization still remains with .com - it's more that once I get established in the broader .com world, I'll return to .ca and apply my advanced knowledge to them in a more personal manor. After all, I am. Canadian! :D

Best Success to Everyone in ALL Your Endeavours!

Please Note - Above Domains In Italics Are NOT Presently 4-Sale.

This .ca thread is excellent, glad to see it still running.

Couple of noob questions how do I find the ovt of a search word(s) and moreover how to do it with extensions.

Also I have mtvc.ca (I was thinking music television canada when I regged it) can anyone offer another suggested meaning?

My best preforming .ca is cmtv.ca, gets about 5-10 uniques a day

You're absolutely right. I had been trying to pace myself and spread my registrations apart so I don't get hit with renewal fees all at once next year. However, as a number of you have pointed out, they are being scooped up rather quickly. Not only by E.B, et al, but I've noticed those Emall guys have been busy too with the 2&3 word names.... If you recall, Emall was the one in that big Yellowpages deal earlier this year.

You can also subscribe to some web services to do it too...

I used to only grab anything over 100k. Then I settled for 50k. Nowadays it seems exciting if you get 10-30k. And this is in the space of maybe 1 1/2 to 2 years.

If I haven't said it before all you new domainers p*ss off and go find something else to do. :eyebrows: :eyebrows: :eyebrows:

That pretty much sums up my experience, overture over 30k are harder to find but still out there.

Just regged a 100k+ yesterday: "death metal" (music type)
also got a 500k+ the other day: "spicy food" but that might be an error in overture because I've never noticed that term so high before.

Another one I didn't get with about 70k is: "black metal" for whoever wants it.

I also don't might lower overture score if it's a high paying ppc term or easily developped into a site. Terms with 'loan' or 'mortgage', popular online activities, etc.

LOL - I saw that spicy food a few days ago and tried to register it - nice catch if it is good ovt!

I contemplated buying a few more today and found three of the first four on my 'to buy' list were gone in the past two weeks.

And ET does let domains drop - there is a nice TBR coming up soon.

I was wondering if anyone else was able to secure any decent Canadian City/Place Names?

I just fresh regged northerncanada.ca - lousy OVT, but it is what we call the north of our country!

Yes... some interesting ones of his are in suspended state right now. As he is still active every week, makes you wonder whether he is deliberately letting them drop or just missing the notices...

ET does indeed have a GREAT name on the suspended list. It's been suspended for almost a month now. Only "God" knows why he would let it expire, if that do indeed happen.

Was that wibro.ca by any chance? I had a bid on with Sibername but they did not get it, must have been Pool...
