I have a site that is doing pretty well. It has custom made forum software and about 900 members. I have done an awful job in placement, and its mostly word of mouth. My design sucks and it doesn't have much set up to make money. That said the site makes 500-1000 a month. It has a month better, and many worse. It gets about 60,000 hits a day 1.7-8 mill a month. The domain is a bit long but decribes its content perfectly. It is one of a few sites of its kind. One is paid the other is owned for drivng business by a large firm. In this arena I think it could be the 800lb gorilla, and more importantly, a cash cow.

The name is perfect. Everyone loves the custom forum. Links and SE placement sucks as does my design. A new design and $300 bucks to yahoo with some adds this thing could REALLY make some money.

What do you think its worth?

keshe,

If you have residual traffic and are pulling as much as you say then you should not consider selling the site :) $500 - $1000 a month is not bad at all.

Site design is not the only thing that drives a website. If as you say you've got 900 members, 60,000 hits a day, then that goes to show that the members keep coming back for the content and not the presentation.

If you really want to redo the site, I'd strongly suggest you do it in two phases. First touch up the site design. Don't mess with the inner workings. Then see how your revenue goes. See what your members feel about the new look. THEN you might consider alternative advertising methods.

But if I were you, I'd keep the site and milk that cash cow :)

Just my opinion.
