I have recently purchased the domain:

SKELETONS.COM

and was wondering what a good appraisal on its worth would be?

Thanks!

I agree with John! nice sounding name but I can't think of a use for it! This is an obvious criteria for it being valuable

There is definitely a market that could use this domain: anatomical models, both for the medical and the legal world.

Check out www.anatomicalmodels.com

Also go to Yahoo and do a search on "anatomical models" to take a look at some of the companies that could be interested in this domain.

Without doing further research into this industry, it's difficult to come up with a good evaluation of this domain.

As a first-look guess, I'd say $3-10K, to the right buyer.

Putting up a web-page with some links to different types of skeleton related suppliers (there also may be a small niche of skeleton model builders), and see which links get the most clicks, and market from there.

Good Selling!

Yes, thanks!

The person I bought it from was into archeology and the study of bones, mummies and ancient civilizations I believe.

I know it gets a fair number of type-ins and in Overture gets a good deal of searches on the word 'skeleton(s)'.

There appears to be much interest. Thanks for your appraisal.

I was thinking the $3,000 to $10,000 range as well.

Any other comments and/or appraisals would be welcome and appreciated.

The foot bone's connected to the ankle bone. The ankle bone's connected to the shin bone. The shin bone's connected to the knee bone. The knee bone's connected to the thigh bone. The thigh bone's connected to the hip bone. The hip bone's connected to the back bone. The back bone's connected to the neck bone. The neck bone's connected to the head bone.

An example of a very good name in my opinion, would get at least $1000 to a reseller. I could see it selling to medical or even theatrical suppliers for much more.

Another possible use suggestion-- short for "skeletons in the closet." Some kind of scandel-sheet or clearinghouse with articles and or message boards (maybe like http://f---edcompany.com). Help keep politics-- and accounting firms-- clean. Dirt sells (or at least attracts enough free surfer/readers to maybe make ads pay).

Great name-- unique and memorable. Much prefer it to my own hotbones.com :)

Excellent! And I don't like .coms (guess I'm just jealous of those that have them lol)

Generics are always great. This is a plural generic with other interesting meanings/uses.

Should get $5-$10k if you are lazy.

Good luck with it!

How much did you pay for it btw roughly?

I would quickly research some related affiliate programs and get a site with some links up. If you can optimize for the search engines, host it and make an attempt to rank well in the se's, and have some typeins coming in already, you could make money while others see if they can afford your name. The dugitup thing should say skeletons.com.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the comments and validation of the name's worth by so many! I really appreciate it!

I am not a domain name or site developer, and I would like to sell a few domains, and this one might be a good candidate.

I would entertain an offer of $1,700 (PayPal, instant transfer) if anyone is interested. If I don't get an acceptable offer within 24 hours, I will likely list this on GreatDomains for $5,000.

Should be an easy sell for $3,000 - $10,000 as most are saying. I just don't have the time to market it.

If there are any SKELETONS.COM takers, please E-mail me at:

Fizz,

Thanks for the endorsement of the price. I wish you had the $$ too! :)

I am sure someone will scoop this one up shortly. I try to price my domains fairly...

Fizz, what domains do you have for sale? We might be able to do a 3-way.
