After a long time, I've just acquired a domain with Snapnames and here is a quote from the email I've received:
Fees for the first three to twelve months of your registration were included in the cost of your purchase.

Can anyone translate that for me? Is the domain registration payed only for 3 months?

Out of curiosity, I've checked the registration fees on http://manage.snapnames.com:
Pricing
.com USD 100,000.00
.net USD 100,000.00
.org USD 100,000.00
.info USD 100,000.00
.biz USD 100,000.00
.us USD 100,000.00
Am I missing something?

those are not the fee's, it may just be a script error or something

renewal fee at manage.snapnames is $7 > $8

whenever you win a domain at snap, the registration/renewal fee is included in that amount of your bid, and covers the registration fee for the next 12 months

That's what I knew too... Maybe they changed their policy :/

i edited my original post, after i clicked the link

i have never tried to actually "register" a name there, only renewed them

OK, but what does this mean: "Fees for the first three to twelve months of your registration were included in the cost of your purchase."

just got off phone with nelson brady at snap

he says that those reg fees posted on manage.snapnames are a "deterent" to keep people from registering names there, which would conflict with their registrar partners

he said it was some generic interface which has been there for some time.

OK biggedon, thank you for the info.

The only mistery remaining is: "Fees for the first three to twelve months..."

They auction domains that will expire in 3 to 12 months. Simple as that. 12 months are the domains that actually drop. All the others will have less. Most of them will have about 10 months left of registration.

^Yeah and I think they really should guarantee 12 month what's with this 3~12 month ? Can not they add one year FFS ?

Yes, a prerelease has already been renewed some time earlier vs a deleted domain.
