well, here we go ...

i backordered a domain sucessfull via snapnames with the new netsol partnership - when a domain expires which was regged at netsol - snapnames get it and awards it to the backorder (if only one - if more then one the auction takes place)

the domain dropped on sept 24 , 2004
i this case i was the only one (i guess nobody else liked it...) & the domain is in my netsol account (perfect) - but lets check the whois -
-----
Record expires on 19-Aug-2005.
Record created on 19-Aug-1999.
Database last updated on 27-Sep-2004 16:08:03 EDT.

----

what's wrong with this ? (i know it never actually 'dropped' it just was transfered from the former owners account into mine - therefore the creation date is 1999 - no problem , but the experation date is a problem - look at snapnames terms & contitions - a backorder includes one aditional year of registration - it dropped on sept 24 2004 and expires on 19 aug 2005 (snapnames year does only have 11 month ?)

for my $ 60 buckeroos i would like to have 12 month -

whom do you think i should contact about the additional month - snapnames or netsol

please post here & include the reason why you think this way.

thank you

It did never drop! So there is no drop date!

I think the domain actually dropped.
Must be a netsol/whois glitch.

No Glitch. They are arbitrarily confiscating domain names before the RGP and auctioning them off to the highest bidder. It appears they cant let them drop or they wont have exclusive control. ICANN sits back and watches. netsol does as it pleases. Real power play between these two.

In the U.S., they started to make food portions smaller for the same price.

I guess Network Solution decided that a year should really be 11 months!!!

update :
i contacted snapnames and
(what a crock-o-!@#$%)
they are too stupid to ****[i edited this one , the word is just too bad)
instead of even really bother to read and understand my email and what i was talking about they replied (and it is a total lie !! as i have the confirmation email from snapnames and netsol and both are dated sept 24,2004 (3: 55 pm )

here is snapnames reply :
---------------
Thank you for contacting SnapNames.com!

The domain name was transferred to you on August 27, 2004. The domain name was renewed on August 19, 2004. This is an 8 day different, not one month. Unfortunately due to the process of transfer and acquisition the registration does some times take that much time to be moved over to the new owner. Our apologies. We cannot add an additonal month of registration to your account in this situation.

what a bull of !@#$% (i'm sorry for my language)

It looks as if our support staff perhaps didn't understand your question. Sorry about that -- please let me give it a try:

When we acquire a name for a SnapBack holder that had been at Netsol, we aren't able to give the new owner a full one year registration. The term will be one year from the expiry date in the whois, not from the date the name was registered to you. You are correct in that this is different than what we normally do; in the past, we've always been able to give a full year's registration to our clients. I'm sorry it's different now: when a back-ordered name is registered for you from Network Solutions, a slightly shorter initial registration period will be the norm.

Kjel, your initial contact was much appreciated and impressive, however now I get no reply to my emails (sent 2 or 3)?

I'm just going to be completely honest here......

One month or however much shouldn't matter. If this was 6 months maybe....
I would be happy to even get possession of the name. If it's not worth losing one month on then don't use the system. That's less a little less than about 60 cents you are fussing over. There are a lot bigger of issues at stake we could spend our time on. I assume your resentment goes much deeper than the 60 cents or the lost month?

Kjel ,
thank you for your response - and i do understand the reason , however please make your support staff aware of this issue and how to respond to it.furthermore , please make it known to everyone who backordered and will backorder (updating your website accordingly)

clemzonguy , you are totally right , it really doesn't (and didn't) matter at all , its the thing is snapnames will have to make this know to everyone (updating their website accordingly)who backorders (otherwise they may get in trouble for false advertizing)

I'm not aware that our website states anywhere that all registrations will be for a year, although it might somewhere in the FAQ's still -- I'll take a look at that. I do know that we updated our terms and conditions last week to reflect that registrations might not be for a full year, depending on how we acquire a name for a back-order holder.

Steen, I'm sorry if I've missed an email from you -- please resend it.
