Thanks Doctor! :)

Is it DeborahBurditt at enom or Deborah_Burditt at enom?
DeborahBurditt didn't work.

One side effect may be a gradual "price war" in the form of registrars sharing more and more of the auction spoils with former registrants.

For example, why would I want to register domains with Registrar A (which shares only 10% of the sale price with the ex-owner) when Registrar B is offering 30% share to former name owners?

Also netsol drops now get renewed at netsol ?

Before they were caught by other registers.

They will make even more money from over priced renewals and transfers.

No, I did not imply that eNom would be doing it. Like I said, that was my personal opinion. I suspect, though I can't say for sure, that if this is allowed to stand, just about every registrar will do it, in one form or another.

But it's much too soon to tell.

This is the bottom line for us domain seekers:

We still pay the same prices for domains on auction no matter who gets it.

Our domain searches will get harder as more registrars adopt this because we will
have to search expiring names BY REGISTRAR instead of one list and enter different
lists at each registar participating.

This is more of a pain because it takes much more time.
Now if someone offering drop lists get's smart, they will offer not only a file of expiring names per registrar but also break down the lists to show the good names.

I would pay for that service.

Other than that, I'm not going to waste my time worrying about the politics of ICANN
and the registrars. What a waste of time....

does it mean the domain name reseller can also do the same thing? i mean like considering that after 30 days all domains yet to be paid become the property of teh reseller?

Only if the reseller's contract with the registrar allows for it. All current agreements (to my knowledge) obviously do not allow for this, so a reseller would have to ask their registrar for this provision.

This presumes that ICANN allows this to stand and that a registrar would agree to such a request, which I suspect most would not.

Well I do say that ENOM remains the most flexible with it's market position of any registrar. It can go whichever way the market turns. I keep about 90% of all of my names there (I wouldn't dare take a chance at paying $35/yr at Netsol to save one year registration fee). I drop about 2-5% yearly, many of which get picked back up. I have also seen plenty of names being dropped by resellers who might think they are otherwise worthless. Netsol isn't the only game in town. Enom could potentially open a can of whoop-*ss if it wanted. Registerfly, Namecheap, all of these sites hail their power to Enom.

Most of the cream of the crop comes from those which were registered in 96-00. These are at Netsol waiting until they ripen. Hopefully they will not be picked too prematurely and get caught up into legal trouble.

You said it; the goods are @ Netsol.

I am rather fond of this move, however afraid of change :-D

Both Register and NetSol have a huge inventory of great names that have been on hold for years, just waiting for this. I wonder if they will attempt to slip them in at the start of this new auction system.

I would imagine they would maxmize the exposure and bidders.

And if they wait to do so, they could be stopped at any time, and be left holding these names again.
