i've listed a few names at outrageous prices. they're names i bought with the intention of developing. i feel an attachment to them and don't want to sell, but i'd let them go if someone offered an obscene amount of money. a look at dnjournal shows that unlikely names sell for huge amounts all the time.

I bought a name at tdnam a few weeks ago for just under $800 that I wouldn't sell for less than 25k. Sometimes you can get some good deals over there - particularly on names that sell for more than a few hundred dollars - I think it's mostly low-budget bargain hunters over there.

You gotta be joking there have been domains selling for many thousands and then when i look at who's bought them a weeks or so later,they are corporations some are multi million dollar operations,there are many domains i would not sell for under $25k but selling them is a different story,those huge domain sales on dnjournal are the same as when the somebody wins the lottery,think about it,there are hundreds and millions of domains and only a handful sell for big money every month just like buying a lottery ticket.

But we all dream of them huge sales !


But i would say you would of been right a few months ago but godaddy now market these domains themselves to corporate companies as where before they did not,it was just domainers but now endusers are in,thanks to the godaddy sales team.

Ok then its low budget bargain hunters and a few rich end users. What seems to be missing for the most part are the people who bid you up like crazy on NameJet and SnapNames. Or perhaps I have just been lucky.

I feel the same way. I've even refused good offers on a domain because I like the domain (and I'm using it).

That's my point i thought maybe buy at $800 and sell for $3k for a quick spin or hold on for years and years to hope you get a lotto payment.....

Suppose it also depends how much cash you have in the bank at the time,if you got a few million then 50K is a drop in the ocean....

Yeah, everyone thinks that because they see big sales on dnjournal it could happen to them with their mediocre domains, and it could but realistically its less than .000001% of domains that this actually happens to.

Sometimes, you can find bargains at Go Daddy Auctions, but other times prices seem extremely high. Seems many buyers their are going after traffic names.
