Sahar Sarid is auctioning his name spyware.com off at the next traffic conference. He has set a reserve at 995 000k and says he thinks that it will sell in the 3-5 million range. Great name. Thoughts?

I'd like to know if he spent more than $50k buying it.

for all you know, he might've hand regged it. Its got a 2000 creation date, and spyware is a relatively new phenomenon on the internet. Before that, they restricted themselves to just trojans and viruses.

My Opinion is the prior buy amount is not even relevant. You should make any purchase on current market values.

He'll never get that much. Even wallstreet.com couldn't sell for that amount at the last auction.

Some prices are over-inflated. I doubt the reserve will be met, unless it's a well-designed PR stunt and the deal is already sealed.

I doubt he will get 3-5M for it. 1M would be nice.
Good name though.

Spyware.com was registered august 2000......apparently it was available when I registered SpyBugs.com in january of 2000.

I guess thats another million or two I lost out on....oh well its only money :sigh2:

3-5M WTF just slightly optimistic

yeah thats a bit stretching it.. i say about 1.2m

its a great name i do think that comparing it to many other 1mil plus names that it ranks up there.

Spyware.com should be ranked #1 in Google for it's keyword, period. Drive up those earnings before the auction, and market it for sale with x 100 current revenue levels. If I emailed Sahar telling him I could do it within a reasonable amount of time, I doubt he would respond to my email.:lol::lol:

Back in the old school days, I used to make X,XXX per day off this keyword doing arbitrage. Too bad I don't have a mill to invest.

Absolutely agree with Acro on this!

It's better than all the .mobi names combined. :-)

if previous sales are any indicator of the value of this name then i think it should be one of the tops of all time. I am still in disbelief about the sale price of seniors.com even if we have an aging population that name sold for quadruple of what i think it is worth.

My 2 cents.

doesn't he say it brings in $100k per month parked? If that is the case those numbers aren't too far off.
