The New York Times this week has a big story about the phenomenon which is in full swing in Manhattan right now because of the New York Comic Convention.
After exploding in Japan in the 1990s and well on into the last decade, the story says, cosplay now has taken root in a big way in the United States, fed by the growing number of comic book, science fiction and fantasy conventions held across the country.
"Their's is an expensive devotion," the story says of the fans who live to dress up as sci-fi characters and superheroes, "costing hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars a year."
It's Halloween all year round for devotees of cosplay. This is an excellent domain name with which to reach them.
