Two important things to consider: First, the voters in Florida's Broward County (Ft. Lauderdale) recently approved "racinos," casinos at horse racing tracks. But the voters in Dade County (Miami) voted against the proposal! So, in a state once vehemently opposed to casino gambling--but always ok with horse and dog racing and jai alai frontons--non-indian casino gambling is apparently starting to take root! Second, Texas lawmakers are looking for new ways to pay for public education and at the same time reduce property taxes across the board. And there's really only one way left to do this! Plus, and this is a big plus, Texas is the second largest state in the Union in terms of population (approx. 22.2 million). We're talking REAL Texas poker!!
