TM Canadian Intellectual Property Office

I have run my .ca domain name, that I have had for 10 years, through TM Canadian Intellectual Property Office Data Base without any issues. Can I assume that I have done my due dilegence as I would like to develop a website around this domain name?

Any information that you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

If you've done a trademark search, also do a thorough Google search and see what you come up with. If you've owned the domain for 10 years with no issues you are probably pretty safe. Someone would have to be using the exact same term in Canada for the exact same thing you plan for there to be an issue. If you get a good lawyer like above to review it that would be the best way to know for sure.

Depends how big the project is. A good IP lawyer will do a thorough review and know where to look. You can tell them what you want and get a quote before proceeding (or not). Sometimes it's worth hiring a professional at the front end to save you money at the back end. It's just an option, but if you're really worried about TM infringement, why wouldn't you consult a lawyer?
