Hi , I would go after a specific/niche market and structure the forum accordingly other than trying to appeal to everyone, this usually retains more users on a regular basis, for instance im4newbies.com forum has a nice following appealing to newbies. Then create some content for that niche market with either pages or your own posts that the users can use to their benefit, and keep the content fresh , they will come back to check it out.

good luck on your venture!

Thank you for your reply. I am somewhat confused with what you're suggesting. Do you think it's the forum name or the forum content? I find Type The Talk to be a catchy name and furthermore good for marketing because having "talk" in the name is like "what's the word on the street?" type of thing. Anyway, I would love to hear more from you.

Hi again, the domain is fine , although generic which leads you to have to brand the name within your market and can be very costly, it is not specific "example" marketingtalk.xxx , I saw your banner ad here on the DN earlier and thought it was a forum directory by the banner , which I think the name is more suited for (just my opinion) . As far as the topics you have I think they might be to broad a topic , break it down a bit more , example your online marketing topic could have sub-categories like "PPC" - "Free Ways to Marketing" - "Search Engines" - "Viral Marketing" etc..

WOW, thanks a lot! That really helps. I will start looking more in-depth at my forum topics this weekend. I think your ideas are definately worth putting into action.
