Was trying really hard to grab idb.org, one of the better drops of the past week but see it was reg'd by Ult and is now at Moniker.

Anyone know how they are so successful at the drop game?

But why would they still be grabbing names when they already sold the network for 162 million $?

I am sure the names were all identified in the sales agreement so does this mean they are now buying names like this one to start a new portfolio of their own seperate from the 100,000 names in the network they are selling to namedevelopment?

This is bad news because we were hoping Ult is now out of the game and retired spending his 162 million $ but apparently not as idb.org seems to have been grabbed by him after the big sales contract was signed by the parties. I am sure Ult did not reg the name as a favor to namedevelopment, and I doubt if they would amend the sales contract to add new names to it after the fact like this. Very odd.

I think hardwork, motivation, vision, and the ability to think outside the box. I doubt there was ever "GREED" involved.

IMHO

Has anybody checked WHOIS? idb.org is NOT registered by Ult Search and it's NOT at Moniker.

its an addiction. folks. Its like, what is the ultimate domain? the perfect High. Tell me, have you ever grabbed , acquired a good name and said, ok, I have enough good names to start developing? Then, a day or two later, just like a crack addict, you are hunting through expired lists, nameserver changes, forum sales boards. Yep. You are a URL crack addict. Hunch about Ult. They are months ahead of us, they have a queue of names already at the catchers db. They would be stupid to just quit. I wonder if there is some type of " no competition "clause in this deal. A local guy here owned several gas stations, sold them to shell. Shell forgot to have him sign a no competition clause, and he now has a bright new gas station across the street form almost every station he sold to shell. ANd he is now almost a billionaire, thanks to riverboats, gas stations, etc.... Ult must have some strategy to parlay the proceeds into something bigger or they wouldnt be doing it. Especially in light of the fact that all these PPC companies popping up and google, etc are claiming that the ppc click market is only going to get stronger, and this seems to be priced into this deal. I thinks its about 10 years of revenue. Come to think of it, isn't that the standard for a physical business sale? Im done jabbering.

Please change the "post quick reply" button to " your reply is long enough for christ sakes, please shut up and submit". After spell checking, I just wasted 20 minutes of my life.

When I checked 11-29 afternoon it was with them and had been reg'd by Ult and at Moniker on 11-23 according to Whois but on 11-29 11:23 PM the name was updated to a different owner (R. Rakes) and is now with Domain Bank. Is it possible Ult or Moniker caught the name and sold it 6 days later to the new registrant? I had orders in for the name a few days before the drop with both Snap and a $800 sealed bid at Pool so was following it real close.

Maybe what you saw was the previous owner's info? It could be a domain dropped by Ult Search.

I think it is a good possibility that ult let that one drop like pyongyang.
and if it did go through domainbank, then it went to pool, so your sealed bid wasnt high enough.

.org takes 3 days (like com/net) to update whois, so it wouldnt have shown anything until the 26th.
still add 3 days at a pool auction and on the 29/30 it would reflect the owner.
just a scenario.

If he said he had a sealed bid at pool, he knows it was caught at pool.
You can't have a sealed bid before a domain drops.

seeker .org updates whois immediatelly. Pool auctions last 4 days. (3+1)

rip, most of the time I see very fast updates at pir.org. but in a few occasions, I have seen them delayed by as much as 3 days, no idea why.

I have never seen this. How did you see this? Did you make an update and waited 3 days to see it in whois?

Here's a wild guess on my part.
Maybe, just maybe, he enjoys doing what he does.

Good point, it was grabbed by pool.com or I could not have submtted my $800 sealed bid. Thanks for clarifying that. And yes, PIR updates org right away.
