has anyone ever used or heard of UltraDNS and what do you think?

They claim it's more secure then BIND and will propagate DNS in 5-10 minutes.....

Thanks!

What do you mean by propagate DNS in 5-10 minutes?

djbdns or WallDNS are both more secure than BIND. BIND is a huge pile of spaghetti code that is really not maintainable...

They claim that they can propagate the name servers of a domain in 5-10 min as opposed too 12 hours to the root servers..is that possible?

I could be explaining it wrong too.

Propagating means that their own name servers will change that quickly, not all the others. Look for registrars with realtime dns, most should propagate in less than 5 min.

The CNO root servers only update twice a day from the registry as I understand it.

Remember the only thing in the root server zone files is the IP address of your nameservers. None of your DNS detail is in there.

they have good press coverage and seems to be good - can't say for 100% sure since I never tried them out..
